Silver Max (foaled March 8, 2009) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse and the winner of the 2013 Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes. Career Silver Max 's first race was on July 31, 2011, at Saratoga, where he came in second. He did not pick up his first win until January 13, 2012, at Gulfstream Park. He went on a six race win streak starting on March 9, 2012. He won the Transylvania Stakes in April. He then won the American Turf Stakes on May 4, then the Arlington Classic Stakes on May 25. He picked up a win at the Oliver Stakes on June 13, then capped off the streak with a win at the 2012 Commonwealth Derby on July 21. His next graded race win came a year later as he won the Oceanport Stakes on July 28, 2013. Silver Max then won the Bernard Baruch Handicap on August 31, 2013. Badge of Silver (foaled March 25, 2000) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse, winner of the 2006 San Gabriel Handicap. Career Badge of Silver on his first race on April 12, 2002 at Keeneland. He continued winning, by taking the 2003 Risen Star Stakes. On January 8, 2005, he captured the Hal's Hope Stakes and then followed it with a win at the 2005 New Orleans Handicap. His last major win came on January 1, 2006 at the San Gabriel Handicap. His final race was at the 2006 Cigar Mile Handicap, where he placed in second. Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes
The Coolmore Turf Mile Stakes is a Grade I American thoroughbred horse race for three year olds and older over a distance of one mile on the turf held annually in October at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky during the fall meeting. History The inaugural running of the event was on 11 October 1986 as the Keeneland Breeders' Cup Stakes at a distance of miles with added purse incentive for horses that were entered to the Breeders' Cup. The event was won by the 21-1 Ohio bred longshot Leprechauns Wish in a time of 1:51. The added purses from the Breeders' Cup high quality participants and the race was classified as Grade III in 1988. The winner of the fourth running in 1989, the British bred Steinlen in his next start won the Breeders' Cup Mile at Gulfstream Park. In 1994 the distance of the event was decreased to one mile. Vice Regent (April 29, 1967 – June 18, 1995) was a Canadian Hall of Fame Thoroughbred racehorse and Canada's leading sire for thirteen years. Owned and bred by E. P. Taylor, he was from Northern Dancer's second crop and out of the mare Victoria Regina, a daughter of the French multiple stakes winner Menetrier whom E. P. Taylor purchased as a sire from François Dupré and imported to Canada. Vice Regent was a full brother to Viceregal who earned Canadian Horse of the Year honours as a two-year-old in 1968. Kris S. (foaled April 25, 1977 – May 7, 2002) was an American Thoroughbred race horse who is best known as a highly successful sire. Background Kris S. was a son of the 1972 Epsom Derby winner Roberto who was a sire of international influence descending from the Hail to Reason branch of the Nearco sire line. Kris S.'s dam was Sharp Queen, a daughter of two-time North American Champion Sire and seven-time Champion Broodmare Sire Princequillo. Racing career Kris S. was raced by Kris S. Robillard, whose father bought the horse for her and gave it her name. Deputy Minister (May 17, 1979 – September 10, 2004) was a Canadian-bred Thoroughbred horse racing Champion. At age two, he won eight out of his nine starts and was voted both the Sovereign and Eclipse Awards for Champion 2-Year-Old in Canada and the United States respectively. He also received Canada's Sovereign Award for Horse of the Year. Although his three-year-old campaign was restricted by injury, Deputy Minister rebounded at age four with several major wins. Retired to stud in 1984, Deputy Minister became an outstanding sire, leading the North American sire list in 1997 and 1998. The River City Stakes is a Grade III American thoroughbred horse race for horses age three and older over a distance of one and one eighth miles on the turf held annually in November at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. The event offers a purse of $100,000. History The name of the event is after a nickname for the city of Louisville where river traffic between the upper Ohio River and the Gulf of Mexico provided the early settlement of Louisville as it grew as a portage site. The Wise Dan Stakes is a Grade II American thoroughbred horse race for horses four-year-old and older run at a distance of one and one sixteenth of a mile on the turf held annually in June at Churchill Downs racetrack in Louisville, Kentucky. History The event was inaugurated on 4 July 1983 as the Firecracker Handicap over a distance of 7 furlongs on a sloppy dirt track and was won by Shot n' Missed who defeated the odds on favorite Dave's Friend in a five horse field. The Opening Verse Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race held annually at Churchill Downs. A race on turf over a distance of one mile, it is open to horses of either sex age three and older. The race is named for Opening Verse, winner of the 1991 Breeders' Cup Mile at Churchill Downs, and was run as the Opening Verse Handicap from inception through 2008. Historical notes The inaugural running of the Opening Verse took place on June 12, 2004, and was won by Senor Swinger. Silver Deputy (February 25, 1985, in Ontario – October 4, 2014) was a Canadian Thoroughbred racehorse best known as a top sire in North America. He was a son of Deputy Minister, who was an Eclipse and Sovereign Award winning runner and the 1997/98 Leading sire in North America. His dam was Silver Valley, a daughter of Mr. Prospector, the 1987/88 Leading sire in North America and nine-time Leading broodmare sire in North America. Silver Deputy was purchased for $200,000 by Windfields Farm of Oshawa, Ontario at the Fasig-Tipton July 1986 select yearling auction in Kentucky. After he won the Grade III Swynford Stakes at Woodbine Racetrack, an injury ended his racing career and he began stallion duty in 1989.
