The Silver Logie for Most Popular Actor is an award presented annually at the Australian TV Week Logie Awards. The award recognises the popularity of an actor in an Australian program. It was first awarded at the Logie Awards of 1977, 19th Annual TV Week Logie Awards, held in 1977 when the award category was originally called Most Popular Australian Lead Actor. It was later renamed Most Popular Actor and briefly Best Actor (2016–2017). For the 2018 ceremony, the award category name was reverted to Most Popular Actor. The winner and nominees of ''Most Popular Actor'' are chosen by the public through an online voting survey on the ''TV Week'' website. Paul Cronin and Martin Sacks hold the record for the most wins, with five each, followed by Grant Dodwell, Craig McLachlan and Hugh Sheridan with three wins each. The Logie Awards (officially the TV Week Logie Awards; colloquially known as The Logies) is an annual gathering to celebrate Australian television, sponsored and organised by the magazine ''TV Week''. The first ceremony was held in 1959 as the TV Week Awards. Awards are presented in twenty categories, representing both public and industry voted prizes. The Gold Logie is the most prestigious award and the industry's highest honour; it's awarded to the ''Most Popular Personality on Australian Television'' for the previous year. The award receives much publicity and media attention. Peter O'Brien is an Australian actor, best known for his role as an original cast member in 1985 of Australian soap opera ''Neighbours'' as Shane Ramsay. Career O'Brien played a regular role in short-lived soap opera ''Starting Out ''(1983), in then had guest roles in ''Carson's Law'' in 1983 and ''Prisoner'' in 1984 and appeared in ''The Henderson Kids''. He was then cast as Shane Ramsey, a regular original character in soap opera ''Neighbours'' on the Seven Network in 1985. ''A Country Practice'' is an Australian television soap opera which broadcast on the Seven Network from 18 November 1981 until 5 November 1993, airing at 7:30 pm on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Altogether, 14 seasons and 1,058 episodes were produced. The show was produced at the ATN-7's production facility at Epping, New South Wales, Pitt Town and Oakville, suburbs on the outskirts of northwest Sydney, Australia, where used for most of the exterior filming, with the historic heritage-listed Clare House, built in 1838, serving as the location of the Wandin Valley Bush Nursing Hospital.
