Silver Blaze (1937 Film)
''Silver Blaze'' is a 1937 British, black-and-white crime and mystery film, based loosely on Arthur Conan Doyle's 1892 short story "The Adventure of Silver Blaze". It was directed by Thomas Bentley, and was produced by Twickenham Film Studios Productions. It stars Arthur Wontner as Sherlock Holmes, and Ian Fleming as Dr. Watson. In the United States, the film was released in 1941 by Astor Pictures, where it was also known as ''Murder at the Baskervilles'', retitled by distributors to capitalize on the success of the Basil Rathbone Holmes film, ''The Hound of the Baskervilles''. It is the last film in the 1931–1937 film series starring Wontner as Sherlock Holmes. Thomas Bentley
Thomas Bentley (23 February 1884 – 23 December 1966) was a British film director. He directed 68 films between 1912 and 1941. He directed three films in the early DeForest Phonofilm sound-on-film process, ''The Man in the Street'' (1926), ''The Antidote'' (1927), and ''Acci-Dental Treatment'' (1928). Lawrence Grossmith
Lawrence Randall Grossmith (29 March 1877 – 21 February 1944) was an English actor, the son of the Gilbert and Sullivan performer George Grossmith and the brother of the actor-manager George Grossmith Jr. After establishing his career in Edwardian musical comedy in London from the first years of the 20th century until the First World War (except for a brief period in the U.S.), Grossmith left England on an extensive tour of the U.S. and Australia, playing in both musicals and non-musical plays. He continued his stage career in England and America from 1924. From 1933 until his death in 1944, he acted in films as well as on stage. Ralph du Vergier Truman (7 May 1900 – 15 October 1977) was an English actor, usually cast as either a villain or an authority figure. He possessed a distinguished speaking voice. He was born in London, England. Truman originally studied at the Royal College of Music and was a regular performer on the radio from 1925, appearing in an estimated 5,000 broadcasts. Minnie Rayner
Minnie Rayner (2 May 1869 – 13 December 1941) was a British stage and film actress. In 1889, while in South Africa, she acted in the comic opera '' Falka'' as Edwige, the fiery Gipsey girl and sister of the brigand chief. The play was staged at the Globe Theatre in Johannesburg and produced by Mr. Perkins of The Edgar Perkins Lyric Opera Company. Eve Gray
Eve Gray (27 November 1900 – 23 May 1983) was an English film actress. Born Fanny Evelyn Garrett, she was taken to Australia as a child and later had a stage career there. She returned to England in 1924 and within three days of arrival had signed a contract and then made her first appearance on the London stage at Daly's Theatre in Madame Pompadour. A film contract soon followed, although she continued to appear on stage in the West End in plays such as Charles Bennett's ''Sensation''. Martin Walker (27 July 1901 – 18 September 1955) was a British stage and screen actor. Walker appeared in films for over thirty years from 1922 onwards, largely in supporting roles but occasionally as a lead such as in ''Help Yourself'' (1932). ''The Hound of the Baskervilles'' is the third of the four crime novels by British writer Arthur Conan Doyle featuring the detective Sherlock Holmes. Mead Howard "Robert" Horton Jr. (July 29, 1924 – March 9, 2016) was an American actor and singer. He is known for playing Flint McCullough in ''Wagon Train'' (1957–1962). Early life One of two sons, Mead Howard Horton Jr. was born on July 29, 1924, in Los Angeles, California. His parents were Mead Howard Horton Sr. and Chelta McMurrin. Horton said that he never felt he fitted into his proper Latter-day Saint household because at times he was rather impetuous.
