Silver Appleyard Duck
The Silver Appleyard is a British breed of domestic duck. It was bred in the first half of the twentieth century by Reginald Appleyard, with the aim of creating a dual-purpose breed that would provide both a good quantity of meat and plenty of eggs. History The Silver Appleyard was bred in the 1930s at Priory Waterfowl Farm near Ixworth, in Suffolk, by Reginald Appleyard, an expert poultry breeder who also created the Ixworth breed of chicken. His aim in creating the breed is described in a leaflet he put out after the end of the Second World War: to create white-skinned duck with a wide, deep breast, which would also be beautiful to look at and would lay abundant white eggs. By the time the pamphlet was issued, his birds had won prizes at the Dairy Show in London and at Bethnal Green. Domestic Duck
The domestic duck or domestic mallard (''Anas platyrhynchos domesticus'') is a subspecies of mallard that has been domesticated by humans and raised for meat, eggs, and down feathers. A few are also kept for show, as pets, or for their ornamental value. The Campbell is a British list of duck breeds, breed of domestic duck. It was developed at Uley, in Gloucestershire, England, at the turn of the 20th century; being introduced to the public in 1898 and the Khaki variety in 1901. Silver Bantam
The Silver Bantam is a small-sized British breed of domestic duck developed by Reginald Appleyard. History Developed in the late 1940s by Reginald Appleyard in Suffolk with the name "Miniature Silver Appleyard", it was intended to be very attractive and docile ducks. The breed is known to be a crossing of Khaki Campbells and White calls, the duck received very little interest until it's standardization in the United Kingdom year 1997 where it received the new name of Silver Bantam. In the late 1950s and early 1960s a small number of females started to be born with yellow bars on their wings as opposed to their usual color.
