Silvana Grasso
Silvana Grasso (Macchia di Giarre, 3 June 1952) is an Italian people, Italian writer. Biography Grasso was born in Macchia di Giarre, where she currently lives and works as a philologist, writer, and critic for , La Sicilia, and la Repubblica (Palermo edition). Her books have been translated into English language, English, Greek people, Greek, German language, German, Danish language, Danish; while her plays have been performed in several Italian cities, and in France and Spain. She was an assessor for the Beni Culturali for the Comune di Catania (2007-2008), where she carried out the project "Una cultura da Castello", aimed at bringing attention to and renovating the Castello Ursino. Giarre
Giarre ( scn, Giarri) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Catania, Sicily. The town is located about southeast of Palermo and around north of Catania. Geography Giarre is bounded by the municipalities of Acireale, Mascali, Milo, Riposto, Sant'Alfio, Santa Venerina and Zafferana Etnea. It forms a conurbation with the coastal town of Riposto. History Some historians suppose that the ancient Greek city of Kallipolis was situated in the same territory of the present-day town of Giarre, but nowadays there is no relevant proof of it. Since the late 16th century until 1815 Giarre was a village of the county of Mascali. During the fascist era Giarre was joined to Riposto under the name of Jonia, but separated again in 1945. The Premio Brancati Zafferana, more concisely known as the Premio Brancati, is a literary prize named in memory of the Italian writer Vitaliano Brancati. Premio Flaiano
The Flaiano Prizes ( it, Premi Flaiano) are a set of Italian international awards recognizing achievements in the fields of creative writing, cinema, theater and radio-television. Established to honour the Italian author and screenwriter Ennio Flaiano (1910-1972), the prizes have been awarded annually since 1974 at the ''Teatro Monumentale Gabriele D'Annunzio'' in Pescara, Flaiano's hometown in Abruzzo, as well as D'Annunzio's. Premio Grinzane Cavour
The Grinzane Cavour Prize (1989–2009) was an Italian literary award established in 1982 by Francesco Meotto. The annual award ceremony took place in the medieval castle of Grinzane Cavour. The goal of the prize was to attract young people to read. The voting system was divided into two phases: first, a jury of literary critics selected finalists, and then they chose an overall winner from the pool of finalists. Special prizes for best new author and lifetime achievement were also awarded. The Grinzane Cavour Prize Association was dissolved on 31 March 2009 as a result of the implication of the organization's president, Giuliano Soria, in an embezzling scheme. Soria used the Grinzane Cavour Prize to gain €4.5 million in government grants which he then appropriated for his personal use.
