A silo (from the Greek σιρός – ''siros'', "pit for holding grain") is a structure for storing bulk materials. Silos are used in agriculture to store fermented feed known as silage, not to be confused with a grain bin, which is used to store grains. Silos are commonly used for bulk storage of grain, coal, cement, carbon black, woodchips, food products and sawdust. Three types of silos are in widespread use today: tower silos, bunker silos, and bag silos. Los Silos is a municipality and town in the northwestern part of the island Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. It is located on the north coast, 57 km West of the capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Its name first appears in 1509, when the agricultural activity of the region made necessary the construction of silos to store cereals. The Silos
The Silos is an American rock band formed by Walter Salas-Humara and Bob Rupe in New York City, United States in 1985. History Prior to starting the Silos, Salas-Humara had been a member of The Vulgar Boatmen, and Bob Rupe was in Florida bands, The Roll N Pinz, The Cichlids, Crank and The Bobs, as well as Screaming Sneakers. The Silos put out the independently released album ''About Her Steps'' in 1986, which received a warm critical reception. The band's 1987 follow-up album, ''Cuba'', also independently released, received even more recognition. The Silos were named Best New Artist in the Rolling Stone magazine critics' poll. ''Cuba'' continues to be cited as highly influential among alternative country artists. Jair Amador Silos (born 21 August 1989), simply known as Jair, is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Segunda División club Real Zaragoza as a central defender. Born in Portugal, he holds Spanish citizenship. Club career Early career Born in São Jorge de Arroios, Lisbon, Jair never knew his parents (who were Cape Verdian) and was adopted by a Spanish family, moving to Villanueva de la Serena, Badajoz, Extremadura afterwards. A UD La Cruz Villanovense youth graduate, he made his debut as a senior with CD Hernán Cortés in 2008, on loan from CF Villanovense.
