Sillerud

	Sillerud Sillerud is a parish in Årjäng Municipality, western Värmland, and partly in Dalsland, Sweden, with a population of approximately 110. It is believed that Måns Andersson, an ancestor of the Bush family, was from Sillerud, because he named his farm in North America ''Silleryd''. Place names with "-ryd" endings, however, are uncommon in Värmland but more common in South Sweden, particularly in Småland. 	Årjäng Municipality Årjäng Municipality (''Årjängs kommun'') is a municipality in Värmland County in west central Sweden, bordering Norway. Its seat is located in the town of Årjäng. A separate local government entity named Årjäng was created in 1941 when it was detached from Silbodal. In 1952 the two were reunited under the name of Årjäng. In 1971 Sillerud and Holmedal were amalgamated with Årjäng. In 1974 Töcksmark was added, expanding the municipality to its current size. The municipality contains two localities, Årjäng and Töcksfors. Known Swedish sportsmen from this municipality are Per-Gunnar Andersson and Thomas Wassberg. 	Måns Andersson Måns Andersson (born ? - died after 4 December 1679), was a pioneer in the Swedish colony of New Sweden. Biography During October 1639, Måns Andersson left Gothenburg on the ship ''Kalmar Nyckel'' heading to New Sweden. He had been hired as a laborer at the rate of 50 Dutch guilders per year. He, his wife, and one daughter, Britta, arrived in New Sweden in April 1640. When a tobacco plantation was established at Upland (now Chester, Pennsylvania) in 1644, Andersson became a tobacco farmer. After the death of his first wife, Måns Andersson married a daughter of Christopher Rettel, about 1646. They established their own farm, named ''Silleryd'' in present Delaware County, possibly named after the village Sillerud in Värmland.
