''Silhouettea'' is a genus of gobies native to the Indian Ocean and the western Pacific Ocean. The name of this genus refers to the island of Silhouette in the Seychelles where the type specimens of the type species, ''Silhouettea insinuans'', were collected. James Leonard Brierley Smith
James Leonard Brierley Smith (26 September 1897 – 8 January 1968) was a South African ichthyologist, organic chemist, and university professor. He was the first to identify a taxidermied fish as a coelacanth, at the time thought to be long extinct. Early life Born in Graaff-Reinet, 26 September 1897, Smith was the elder of two sons of Joseph Smith and his wife, Emily Ann Beck. Educated at country schools at Noupoort, De Aar, and Aliwal North, he finally matriculated in 1914 from the Diocesan College, Rondebosch. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry from the University of the Cape of Good Hope in 1916 and a Master of Science degree in chemistry at Stellenbosch University in 1918. Smith went to the United Kingdom, where he received his PhD at Cambridge University in 1922. Albert William Herre
Albert William Christian Theodore Herre (September 16, 1868 – January 16, 1962) was an American ichthyologist and lichenologist. Herre was born in 1868 in Toledo, Ohio. He was an alumnus of Stanford University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in botany in 1903. Herre also received a master's degree and a Ph.D. from Stanford, both in ichthyology. He died in Santa Cruz, California in 1962. Work in the Philippines Albert W. Herre was perhaps best known for his Taxonomy (biology), taxonomic work in the Philippines, where he was the Chief of Fisheries of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Bureau of Science in Manila from 1919 to 1928. Helen Kay Larson
Helen K. Larson is an ichthyologist who specialises in the fishes of the Indo-Pacific. In the 1960s and 1970s, she attended the University of Guam to study for her Bachelor's and master's degrees and while there she also worked in the local Marine Laboratory. While there she collected and described a new species of the dwarf goby from the genus '' Eviota'', '' Eviota pellucida'', the description being published in 1976 in the journal ''Copeia''. This was her first description of a new species. Her Masters was called ''Notes on the biology and comparative behaviour of ''Eviota zonura'' and ''Eviota smaragdus'' (Pisces:Gobiidae)''.
