Silent Scream (album)
''Silent Scream'' is the fifth album by the group Shooting Star. It was produced by Ron Nevison, though the band's guitarist, Van McLain, said in a 2003 interview with Classic Rock Revisited that the band had a falling out with Nevison and fired him in the middle of recording, with the album's recording engineer, Greg Ladanyi, stepping up to finish it. It is the last Shooting Star album to date to feature founding members Gary West and Charles Waltz (who didn't return to the band following its resurrection in 1989), and the last album to feature drummer Steve Thomas until 2006's ''Circles A circle is a shape consisting of all points in a plane that are at a given distance from a given point, the centre. Shooting Star (band)
Shooting Star is an American rock band from Kansas City, Missouri. The band was formed in the late 1970s. After gaining popularity in the Kansas City area, Shooting Star became the first American group to sign with Virgin Records. They recorded their 1979 debut album in England with producer Gus Dudgeon. The band gained national exposure when a number of songs garnered moderate airplay on album-oriented rock radio stations in the US. Shooting Star initially consisted of Van McLain (guitars, vocals), Bill Guffey (keyboards), Steve Thomas (drums), Ron Verlin (bass), Charles Waltz (violin, keyboards, vocals), and Gary West (lead vocals, guitars, keyboards). Hard Rock
Hard rock or heavy rock is a loosely defined subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and distorted electric guitars. Hard rock began in the mid-1960s with the garage, psychedelic and blues rock movements. Some of the earliest hard rock music was produced by the Kinks, the Who, The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Cream, Vanilla Fudge, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Virgin Records is a record label owned by Universal Music Group. It originally founded as a British independent record label in 1972 by entrepreneurs Richard Branson, Simon Draper, Nik Powell, and musician Tom Newman. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Ron Nevison
Ron Nevison is an American record producer and audio engineer. He started his career in the early 1970s as an engineer on ''Quadrophenia'' by the Who and Bad Company's debut album. He eventually became a producer, working with artists including Meat Loaf, The Babys, Led Zeppelin, Ozzy Osbourne, UFO, Michael Schenker Group, Survivor, Jefferson Starship, Thin Lizzy, Kiss, Europe, Chicago, Grand Funk Railroad, Heart, and Damn Yankees among many others. Career Overview Nevison's first work was as an engineer for the Who's ''Quadrophenia''. From there, he did engineering work on the first three albums by Bad Company. Greg Ladanyi
Greg Ladanyi (July 6, 1952 – September 29, 2009) was an American record producer and recording engineer of Hungarian descent, known for his work with many musicians, including Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon, The Church, Caifanes, Anna Vissi, Toto, Fleetwood Mac, Don Henley, and Jeff Healey. Biography Ladanyi began his career by working on ''Hasten Down the Wind'' under the tutelage of engineer/producer Val Garay. Around 1980 Ladanyi expanded from just engineering into production as well. He recounted, "Part of the way I came up into coproducing was by elevating engineering to a point where it has an awful lot to do with the production of the record.
