Silene Schafta
''Silene schafta'', the Caucasian campion or autumn catchfly, is a species of flowering plant in the family Caryophyllaceae, native to western Asia. Growing to tall by wide, it is a mat-forming semi-evergreen perennial, with narrow leaves and clusters of bright pink, five-petalled flowers in late summer. The specific epithet ''schafta'' derives from a local Caspian name for this plant. Valued in the garden as easily grown groundcover for rock gardens, ''Silene schafta'' has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit The Award of Garden Merit (AGM) is a long-established annual award for plants by the British Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). Philipp Friedrich Gmelin
Philipp Friedrich Gmelin (19 August 1721 – 9 May 1768) was a professor of botany and chemistry. He studied the chemistry of antimony and wrote texts on the pancreatic ducts, mineral waters, and botany. He was a brother of the famous traveler Johann Georg Gmelin. He obtained his Master's degree in 1742 at the University of Tübingen under Burchard Mauchart. Rudolph Friedrich Hohenacker
Rudolph Friedrich Hohenacker (1798 – 14 November 1874) was a Swiss missionary and botanist born in Zürich. In the 1820s he was assigned to the Swabian colony of Helenendorf in the Transcaucasus, where he served as a doctor and missionary. Eventually, his main focus involved collecting plants from the region. In 1841 he returned to Switzerland, where he took up residence in Basel. Shortly afterwards he relocated to Esslingen, Germany (1842-1858), and in 1858 moved to the town of Kirchheim unter Teck. Following his return from the Transcaucasus, Hohenacker earned his living selling exsiccatae based on specimens of other collectors. He was the author of ''Enumeratio Plantarum quas in itinere per provinciam Talysch collegit''.
