Sila Nerangalil Sila Manithargal (novel)
''Sila Nerangalil Sila Manithargal'' () is a Tamil-language novel by Jayakanthan. It is an expanded version of his 1968 short story ''Agnipravesam'' () with a different ending. The novel, serialised in 1970 in '' Dinamani Kathir'', won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1972. A sequel, ''Gangai Enge Pogiral'', was published in 1978. The novel was translated into Malayalam as ''Chila Samayangalil Chila Manushyar'' by C. A. Balan. It was adapted into a Tamil feature film by the same name (1977), and a Malayalam television series ''Chila Nerangalil Chila Manushyar'' (2011). Plot Overview ''Agnipravesam'', a short story written by Jayakanthan, was published in the magazine ''Ananda Vikatan'' in 1968. Jayakanthan
D. Jayakanthan (24 April 1934 – 8 April 2015), popularly known as JK, was an Indian writer, journalist, orator, filmmaker, critic and activist. Born in Cuddalore, he dropped out of school at the age of 9 and went to Madras, where he joined the Communist Party of India. In a career spanning six decades, he authored around 40 novels, 200 short stories, apart from two autobiographies. Outside literature, he made two films. In addition, four of his other novels were adapted into films by others. Jayakanthan's literary honours include Jnanpith and Sahitya Akademi awards. He was also a recipient of Padma Bhushan (2009), India's third-highest civilian honour, the Soviet Land Nehru Award (1978), and the Russian government's Order of Friendship (2011). Ananda Vikatan
''Ananda Vikatan'' is a Tamil-language weekly magazine published from Chennai, India. History and profile ''Ananda Vikatan'' was started by Late Pudhoor Vaidyanadhaiyar in February 1926 as a monthly publication. The issue for December 1927 was not published due to financial difficulties. In January 1928 Subramaniam Srinivasan bought the rights from Vaidyanadhaiyer and relaunched the publication from February 1928 in a new format He paid at the rate of ₹25 per alphabet in the Tamil language name (ஆனந்த விகடன்) of the publication to buy the rights.
