Sikkim Football Association ( SFA; is the state governing body of football in Sikkim, India. It is affiliated with the All India Football Federation, the sports national governing body. History The Sikkim Football Association was formed in the year 1976, previously it was known as the ''Gangtok Football and Sporting Association''. Sikkim football dates back with first local team, Kumar Sporting Club. The federation started Sikkim Gold Cup in 1979 with the help of the Sikkim government. Sikkim Aakraman Sporting Club is an Indian professional football club based in Gangtok, Sikkim, that competes in Sikkim Premier Division League, the top football division in Sikkim and Sikkim Premier League, the franchise league in Sikkim. It is part of the multi-sports club Sikkim Aakraman Sporting Club. Founded in 2010, The club won the inaugural edition of the Sikkim Premier League in 2023. History Sikkim Aakraman qualified for the Sikkim Premier Division League in 2016 and lifted the champion's trophy in same year. It finished as runners-up in 2017 and 2018. I-League 2, previously known as I-League 2nd Division and officially known as or Hero I-League 2 (for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp), is an Indian men's professional football league. It is the 3rd tier of Indian football, behind Indian Super League and I-League. It operates as a system of promotion with I-League (final qualifying phase of state leagues teams). In 2020, due to COVID-19 pandemic in India, the league format was changed into I-League Qualifiers. To avoid confusion with I-League being the second tier, the league was renamed to I-League 2 by AIFF in 2022.
