Signet Press in Kolkata (previously Calcutta), West Bengal, India, is a publishing house established by Dilip Kumar Gupta (popularly known as D. K.) in 1943. Located at the famous book arcade of College Street in front of Sanskrit College. The famed film-director Satyajit Ray worked as a visual designer in this publishing house at the onset of his career and many of the books don the covers designed by him. The press has published many renowned books like Jawaharlal Nehru's '' Discovery of India'', Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay's ''Pather Panchali'' and ''Chander Pahar'', Jibanananda Das's '' Rupasi Bangla'' and '' Banalata Sen'', Saat-ti taarar timir etc.By the end of the 70s though, D. K had fallen sick and soon followed by his death, The Signet Publishing house closed. Nirendranath Chakravarty (19 October 1924 – 25 December 2018) was a contemporary Bengali poet, Translator, Novelist. He lived in Bangur Avenue, Kolkata. Biography He was born in Faridpur district of undivided Bengal in 1924. After graduating from the University of Calcutta, he started journalism in the daily "Raiyah". Naresh Guha
Naresh Guha (1923/24-2009) was a Bengali poet. He was born in 1923 (March) in Binnafoir village of Mymensingh district in undivided Bengal. His original name was Nareshchandra Guha Bakshi. He was son of Rameshchandra Guha Bakshi and Indumati devi. He died on 4'th January in 2009. He started his career as a journalist with the ''Jugantor'', where he was friends with Amiya Chakrabarty. He reported on the 1946 Calcutta riots. In the 1950s, he worked as a college teacher, eventually joining the faculty of Jadavpur University. His first collection of poems came out in 1952, titled ''Duronto Dupur''. Shankha Ghosh
Sankha Ghosh (born Chittapriya Ghosh; 5 February 1932 – 21 April 2021) was an Indian poet and literary critic. He was born in Chandpur District of the then Bengal Presidency, present day Bangladesh. His ancestral home was at Banaripara Upazila in Barisal District. He spent his childhood and adolescence in Ishwardi Upazila of Pabna District, which was his father's workplace. Ghosh passed matriculation from Chandraprabha Vidyapitha, Pabna. Sudhindranath Dutta
Sudhindranath Dutta (30 October 1901 – 25 June 1960) was an Indian poet, essayist, journalist and critic. Sudhindranath is one of the most notable poets after the Tagore-era in Bengali literature. Education Sudhindranath Dutt went to the Theosophical High School in Varanasi between 1914 and 1917, and later attended the Oriental Seminary in Kolkata. Later he graduated from the Scottish Church College. He later studied law at the Law College (1922–1924), while also simultaneously preparing for his finals for an MA in English literature from the University of Calcutta.
