Signe Lagerborg-Stenius
Signe Lagerborg-Stenius (4 April 1870 - 15 July 1968) was a Finnish architect, member the Helsinki City Council (1926-1930, 1933–1944). She was the second woman in Finland to complete a four-year course at the Polytechnic. Early life and education Signe Lagerborg was born on 4 April 1870 in Helsinki to a noble family of Robert Olof Lagerborg and Carolina Lovisa Constance Furuhjelm. In 1892, Lagerborg studied architecture at Helsinki Polytechnic Institute, graduating in 1892. She became the second female to graduate a four-year program at the Helsinki Polytechnic Institute. City Council Of Helsinki
The City Council of Helsinki (, ) is the main decision-making organ in the local politics of Helsinki, Finland. The City Council deals with issues such as city planning, schools, health care, and public transport. The 85-seat Council's members are elected every four years in municipal elections. The seat of the Council is the Helsinki City Hall, which overlooks Market Square in central Helsinki. Historically, the center-right National Coalition Party has been the largest player in Helsinki's local politics, with the center-left Social Democratic Party being the second largest. However, since the 2000 elections, the position of the Social Democrats has been challenged by the Green League, for which Helsinki is the strongest area of support nationally, with the former party becoming the second-largest in only the 2008 elections. Helsinki University of Technology (TKK; fi, Teknillinen korkeakoulu; sv, Tekniska högskolan) was a technical university in Finland. It was located in Otaniemi, Espoo in the metropolitan area of Greater Helsinki. The university was founded in 1849 by Grand Duke of Finland, Emperor Nicholas I and received university status in 1908. It moved from Helsinki to Otaniemi campus area in 1966. It was merged into Aalto University in 2010 and briefly had the name Aalto University School of Science and Technology before being split into four schools in 2011.
