Signature (Joe Album)
''Signature'' is the second independent and eighth studio album by R&B singer Joe, which was released on July 14, 2009. His previous album, ''Joe Thomas, New Man'', features cuts from this album. The album features ballads written, produced, and arranged by Joe. The lead single is "Majic", which has peaked at #57 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The album debuted #7 on the ''Billboard'' 200, #2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and #1 on the Independent Albums chart. The deluxe edition of the album includes remixes to "We Need to Roll" and "Man in Your Life", the former featuring Mario & Trey Songz and the latter featuring The Game. Joe (singer)
Joseph Lewis Thomas (born July 5, 1972), known mononymously as Joe, is an American R&B singer-songwriter and record producer. Born and raised in Ashburn, Georgia, he later relocated to Atlanta and signed a record deal with Polygram Records in 1992. He rose to prominence after releasing his debut album ''Everything'' the following year. He followed it with a series of successful albums under Jive Records, including '' All That I Am'' (1997), the international bestseller ''My Name Is Joe'' (2000) as well as the multi-certified albums '' Better Days'' (2001) and '' And Then...'' (2003). Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is a music chart published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine that ranks R&B and hip hop albums based on sales in the United States and is compiled by Nielsen SoundScan. The chart debuted as Hot R&B LPs in the issue dated January 30, 1965 in an effort by the magazine to further expand into the field of rhythm and blues music. It then went through several name changes, being known as Soul LPs in the 1970s and Top Black Albums in the 1980s, before returning to the R&B identification in 1990 and affixing a hip hop designation in 1999 to reflect the latter's growing sales and relationship to R&B during the decade. Fender Rhodes
The Rhodes piano (also known as the Fender Rhodes piano) is an electric piano invented by Harold Rhodes, which became popular in the 1970s. Like a conventional piano, the Rhodes generates sound with keys and hammers, but instead of strings, the hammers strike thin metal tines, which vibrate next to an electromagnetic pickup. The signal is then sent through a cable to an external keyboard amplifier and speaker. The instrument evolved from Rhodes's attempt to manufacture pianos while teaching recovering soldiers during World War II. Development continued after the war and into the following decade. In 1959, Fender began marketing the Piano Bass, a cut-down version; the full-size instrument did not appear until after Fender's sale to CBS in 1965. Jayceon Terrell Taylor (born November 29, 1979), better known by his stage name the Game or simply Game, is an American rapper. Born in Compton, California, he initially released a series of mixtapes under the wing of fellow West Coast rapper JT the Bigga Figga. Marvin Pentz Gay Jr., who also spelled his surname as Gaye (April 2, 1939 – April 1, 1984), was an American singer and songwriter. "Come Get to This" is a song written and recorded by American recording artist Marvin Gaye. It was released as the second single off Gaye's album, ''Let's Get It On'' following the success of the title track. Recording sessions for the song first occurred in 1970 when Gaye worked on the song in a demo format while he made '' What's Going On''. Gaye then shelved the recording for three years before revisiting it as he began assessing the track listing for ''Let's Get It On''. The song was remixed and edited at Motown's Hollywood-based recording studios in 1973. The song's composition and record production was inspired by the Motown Sound of the 1960s and the lyrics reflected a man's joy over the return of an old lover.
