Sierra De Alcubierre
Sierra de Alcubierre is a long mountain range in the Monegros comarca, Aragon, Spain. It is located between the provinces of Zaragoza and Huesca. Geography This mountain chain crosses the arid eastern end of the Monegros comarca from northwest to southeast and divides the basins of the Gállego and Isuela rivers. It has numerous ravines and its landscape is characteristic of badlands. The ridge's highest summits are Monte Oscuro (822 m) and San Caprasio (811 m); other summits are Corona de la Reina (629 m) and Vedao (548 m), located at the northern end of the range, as well as Sigena (592 m) and Huegas (447 m), located at the southern end. Sigena (mountain)
Villanueva de Sigena or Villanueva de Sijena is a town in the county of Los Monegros, in the northern province of Huesca, in Aragon (Spain). Located near the Alcanadre river, the local economy is primarily agricultural-based. The Royal Monastery of Santa María de Sigena is located on the outskirts of town. Mount Sigena is a hill of the Sierra de Alcubierre located 5 km to the south. Villanueva de Sigena is the birthplace of the physician and heterodox theologian, Michael Servetus (1511?–1553). Servetus was the discoverer of pulmonary circulation. A museum and interpretation center, maintained by the Michael Servetus Institute, is now located in the original house were Servetus was born. San Caprasio (mountain)
San Caprasio is a church in Santa Cruz de la Serós, Jacetania, Spain, in First Romanesque style. History The church is dedicated to St. Caprasius, a 4th-century Gaulish-Roman saint connected to the pilgrims who, during the Middle Ages, ran the Way of Santiago. The town of Santa Cruz de la Serós was located some from the route. It was erected in the early 11th-century in Lombard-Romanesque style, perhaps with support of artists and craftsmen from northern Italy. In 1089 the diocese of Jaca gave the church to monastery of San Juan de la Peña, which, for some time, converted it into a priorate. Architecture The church has not undergone substantial modifications since its construction in the 11th century, with the exception of the 12th-century bell tower, which is separated from the interior.
