Siemens-Schuckert Forssman
The Siemens-Schuckert Forssman was a prototype bomber aircraft designed and built in Germany in 1914 and 1915.Haddow & Grosz 1963, p.164 When its performance proved inadequate for its intended role, even after numerous modifications, the German Inspectorate of Flying Troops (the '' Idflieg'') eventually accepted it into service as a trainer. Shortly after its acceptance into military service, the aircraft's fuselage fractured while on the ground, ending its career. Biplanes
A biplane is a fixed-wing aircraft with two main wings stacked one above the other. The first powered, controlled aeroplane to fly, the Wright Flyer, used a biplane wing arrangement, as did many aircraft in the early years of aviation. While a biplane wing structure has a structural advantage over a monoplane, it produces more drag than a monoplane wing. Improved structural techniques, better materials and higher speeds made the biplane configuration obsolete for most purposes by the late 1930s. Siemens Schuckert was founded in 1903 when Siemens & Halske acquired Schuckertwerke. Subsequently, Siemens & Halske specialized in communications engineering and Siemens-Schuckert in power engineering and pneumatic instrumentation. During World War I Siemens-Schuckert also produced aircraft. It took over manufacturing of the renowned Protos vehicles in 1908. In World War II, the company had a factory producing aircraft and other parts at Monowitz near Auschwitz. There was a workers camp near the factory known as Bobrek concentration camp. Harald Otto Walther Wolff (11 January 1909 June 1977) was a German stage, film and television actor. Life Harald Wolff was born in Barmen (now Wuppertal) in 1909.
