Siegbert Wirth
Siegbert M. Wirth (October 26, 1929 – October 12, 1999) was a U.S. soccer player who was a member of the U.S. soccer team at the 1956 Summer Olympics. He played his college soccer at Syracuse University in 1950 and then again from 1952 to 1955. Following his graduation from Syracuse, he entered the U.S. military. While he was a member of the Olympic soccer team, he did not enter a game during the tournament. In 1990, he took over as head coach of the Mynderse Academy Varsity Boys Soccer Team where he took a team that won 2 games the previous season to the league championship. He coached Mynderse for the next 6 years. Syracuse Orange Soccer
Syracuse Orange is the NCAA college soccer team for Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. They are a Division I team in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Syracuse fielded its first varsity soccer team in 1920. The program rose to national prominence early in its history, being recognized by the Intercollegiate Soccer Football Association as national champions for 1936. Syracuse competed with the other northeastern soccer programs as an independent until 1979. The University was a founding member of the Big East Conference in 1979 and the Orange broke new ground in 1982 when they finished with a record of 17-3-2 and won the inaugural BIG EAST Tournament by beating Boston College in the final. On July 1, 2013, Syracuse joined the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The 1956 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XVI Olympiad, were an international multi-sport event held in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, from 22 November to 8 December 1956, with the exception of the equestrian events, which were held in Stockholm, Sweden, in June 1956. These Games were the first to be staged in the Southern Hemisphere and Oceania, as well as the first to be held outside Europe and North America. Melbourne is the most southerly city ever to host the Olympics.
