Sidhu Moosewala
Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu (11 June 1993 – 29 May 2022), better known by his stage name Sidhu Moose Wala, was an Indian rapper, singer and actor. He rose to the mainstream with his track "So High". In 2018, he released his debut album '' PBX 1'', which peaked at number 66 on the ''Billboard'' Canadian Albums chart. His single " 47" was ranked on the UK Singles Chart. In 2020, Moose Wala was named by ''The Guardian'' among 50 up and coming artists. He is generally regarded to have been one of the greatest Punjabi artists of his generation. Moreover, he was considered as a key figure in opening the door for Punjabi artists into mainstream music. Mai Bhago
Mai Bhago also known as Mata Bhag Kaur, was a Sikh woman who led Sikh soldiers against the Mughals in 1705. She was an exceptionally skilled warrior on the battlefield and is revered as a warrior saint in Sikhism. "SYL" is a song by Indian singer Sidhu Moosewala. The song was released just under three weeks after his death on 23 June 2022. The song was produced by Mxrci, and written by Moose Wala. Lyrical content In the song, Sidhu speaks about issues related to the Sutlej Yamuna link canal, Satluj Yamuna link canal (SYL canal), a contentious issue of sharing of river waters between Haryana, Punjab and Delhi, along with unity among Punjab &Haryana (undivided Punjab). The song also calls for the release of Sikh prisoners who are languishing in jails. In verse three, Sidhu talks about the 2021 Indian farmers' Republic Day protest.
