''The Complete Album Collection Vol. One'' is a forty-seven disc box set released on November 4, 2013, by Bob Dylan. It includes thirty-five albums released between 1962 and 2012, six live albums, and a compilation album unique to the set, ''Side Tracks'', which contains previously released material unavailable on regular studio or live albums. Contents This release is the first time that the 1973 album '' Dylan'' has been released on CD in North America. Fourteen of the albums have been remastered for this release. Bob Dylan
Bob Dylan (legally Robert Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter. Often regarded as one of the greatest songwriters of all time, Dylan has been a major figure in popular culture during a career spanning more than 60 years. Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s, when songs such as "Blowin' in the Wind" (1963) and " The Times They Are a-Changin' (1964) became anthems for the civil rights and antiwar movements. His lyrics during this period incorporated a range of political, social, philosophical, and literary influences, defying pop music conventions and appealing to the burgeoning counterculture. ''Self Portrait'' is the tenth studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on June 8, 1970, by Columbia Records. ''Self Portrait'' was Dylan's second double album (after '' Blonde on Blonde''), and features many cover versions of well-known pop and folk songs. Also included are a handful of instrumentals and original compositions. Most of the album is sung in the affected country crooning voice that Dylan had introduced a year earlier on ''Nashville Skyline''. Seen by some as intentionally surreal and even satirical at times, ''Self Portrait'' received extremely poor reviews. Dylan has stated in interviews that ''Self Portrait'' was something of a joke, far below the standards he set in the 1960s, and was made to end the "spokesman of a generation" label that critics had put on him. It is considered to be Dylan's last of a trilogy of Christian albums. Arrangements are rooted more in rock, and less in gospel than Dylan's two previous albums. At the time of its release, ''Shot of Love'' received mixed reviews; Paul Nelson of ''Rolling Stone'' criticized the album, though he did single out the last track, "Every Grain of Sand", as a stand-out. ''Dylan'' is the thirteenth studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, which is made up of outtakes he recorded for earlier albums. Columbia Records compiled it with no input from Dylan and released it on November 16, 1973. The album followed the artist's departure from Columbia for Asylum Records, and the announcement of his first major tour since 1966. In Europe the album was re-released in January 1991 with the title ''Dylan (A Fool Such as I)''. Composition and recording The album is made up from studio outtakes from the previous Dylan releases ''Self Portrait'' and ''New Morning''. The nine songs featured on the album consist of six cover songs and three traditional songs, adapted and arranged by Dylan. David Jay Weiss, known as David Was, is an American musician, music producer and journalist. With his stage-brother Don Was, he was the founder of the 1980s pop group Was (Not Was). Career Was was born in Detroit, Michigan to a Jewish family. Don Edward Fagenson (born September 13, 1952), known professionally as Don Was, is an American musician, record producer and record executive. Primarily a bass player, Was co-founded the funk-rock band Was (Not Was). In later years he produced songs and albums for many popular recording artists including, since 1994, The Rolling Stones. In 2012, he became president of jazz music label Blue Note Records.
