Side A (band)
Side A is a Filipino pop band formed in 1985. They gained recognition in the Philippine music scene in the late 1980s through to the early 2000s. They are best known for their hit single "Forevermore." Side A achieved major commercial success during the 1990s. In 1993, the group's third album went triple platinum and in the mid-1990s, Side A garnered two Awit Awards, the Philippines' equivalent of the Grammys. History Dubbed as the "Philippines' premiere band" and the local version of the band Toto, Side A was founded in 1985 by the brothers Rodel and Naldy Gonzalez, Joey Benin, Kelly Badon, Mar Dizon and Pido Lalimarmo. The band released its eponymous debut album in 1989. The band was first managed by the Christian-oriented artist management company called Artistation Inc., owned by the late Wyngard Tracy. Richard Poon (born December 8, 1973) is a Filipino singer-songwriter and TV personality in the Philippines of Chinese descent. He is a former member of the band U-Turn. Early life Poon was born on December 8, 1973, in Makati, Philippines. His parents, Robert Poon (from Hong Kong) and Eva Huang (from Taiwan), are of Chinese descent. He has a sister named Eva Marie. A re-recording is a recording produced following a new performance of a work of music. This is most commonly, but not exclusively, by a popular artist or group. It differs from a reissue, which involves a second or subsequent release of a previously-recorded piece of music. Re-recordings are often produced decades after the original recordings were released, usually under contract terms more favorable to the artists. Fra Lippo Lippi is a Norwegian band. They had several hits in the 1980s, such as "Shouldn't Have to Be Like That", "Everytime I See You" and " Light and Shade", and recorded a new album as late as 2002. The band name is derived from Robert Browning's poem about the Renaissance painter Filippo Lippi. Hotdog, currently performing as Sound of Manila, is a Filipino band formed by brothers Dennis and Rene Garcia that achieved fame in the Philippines during the mid-1970s. Their first album, ''Unang Kagat,'' was released in 1974 by Villar Records. The album led to the 1975 movie of the same name, also starring the band. The band was credited by local journalists as a major influence on and leading exponent of the Manila Sound, a musical genre popular during that period.
