Sichuan Symphony Orchestra
The Sichuan Symphony Orchestra ( Chinese: 四川 交响乐团; pinyin: Sichuan Jiāoxiǎng Yuètuán; abbreviated SSO) was established in 2002. The average age of musicians in SSO is 30, making it the youngest symphony orchestra in mid-western China. The performance schedule of the orchestra is the most vigorous. The orchestra expanding to 140 musicians. The orchestra's former executive director and principal conductor was Mr. Tang Qingshi 唐青石先生. The current music director is Darrell Ang. Sichuan (; zh, c=, labels=no, ; zh, p=Sìchuān; alternatively romanized as Szechuan or Szechwan; formerly also referred to as "West China" or "Western China" by Protestant missions) is a province in Southwest China occupying most of the Sichuan Basin and the easternmost part of the Tibetan Plateau between the Jinsha River on the west, the Daba Mountains in the north and the Yungui Plateau to the south. Hu Kun
Hu Kun (Chinese: 胡坤) (born 1963) is a Chinese violinist and conductor. Biography Hu Kun was born in China just before the Cultural Revolution and started playing violin and piano at age of six with his parents. He moved to Beijing in the 1970s to be the soloist of the China Central Radio Symphony Orchestra, and in 1980 he won the fifth prize of the Sibelius International Violin Competition, being the first Chinese citizen to win a prize at a major international violin competition. In 1984 he graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. He has also won prizes in the Queen Elisabeth Violin Competition, Francescatti Violin Competition, Lipizer Violin Competition, Palm Beach Violin Competition, and Menuhin Violin Competition. José Plácido Domingo Embil (born 21 January 1941) is a Spanish opera singer, conductor, and arts administrator. He has recorded over a hundred complete operas and is well known for his versatility, regularly performing in Italian, French, German, Spanish, English and Russian in the most prestigious opera houses in the world. Although primarily a ''lirico-spinto'' tenor for most of his career, especially popular for his Cavaradossi, Hoffmann, Don José and Canio, he quickly moved into more dramatic roles, becoming the most acclaimed Otello of his generation. Song Zuying (; born August 13, 1966) is a Chinese classical/folk singer. Early life Song was born in Guzhang County, part of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan. She is of Miao ethnicity, and studied at the Department of Music and Dancing at the Central Institute for Nationalities in Beijing, after which she studied at the China Music College. Her father died when she was 12, and she is the oldest daughter. In 1991, she joined the Chinese People's Liberation Army Naval Song and Dance Troupe as a national first-class singer. Virginia Tola
Virginia Tola (born 1976) is an Argentine operatic soprano. While studying music at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, she won first prize in Oslo at the Queen Sonja International Music Competition in 1999. She made her début at the Teatro Colón as Antonia in ''The Tales of Hoffmann''. Tola has taken leading roles in operas across Europe and in the United States. She has also performed internationally in concerts, including several appearances with Placido Domingo. Biography Born on 15 January 1976 in Santo Tomé, Santa Fe, Virginia Tola attended local schools. When she was eight, she took part in the Santa Fe municipal choir.
