Sichere Inter-Netzwerk Architektur
Sichere Inter-Netzwerk Architektur (SINA) is a cryptographic system developed by and a product of the Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik, an arm of the German government. It also has the anglicized name Secure Inter-Network Architecture. As of April 2024 the cryptosystem was employed by "many European governments for transmitting classified information". History SINA came to prominence in March 2023 when it was divulged in a court warrant for the arrest of the Austrian intelligence officer Egisto Ott, who has a relationship with Wirecard fraudster Jan Marsalek, that a SINA laptop was handed to the Russian secret services, specifically the Lubyanka Building The Lubyanka ( rus, Лубянка, p=lʊˈbʲankə) is the popular name for the building which contains the headquarters of the FSB, and its affiliated prison, on Lubyanka Square in the Meshchansky District of Moscow, Russia. Cryptographic System
In cryptography, a cryptosystem is a suite of cryptographic algorithms needed to implement a particular security service, such as confidentiality (encryption). Typically, a cryptosystem consists of three algorithms: one for key generation, one for encryption, and one for decryption. The term ''cipher'' (sometimes ''cypher'') is often used to refer to a pair of algorithms, one for encryption and one for decryption. Therefore, the term ''cryptosystem'' is most often used when the key generation algorithm is important. For this reason, the term ''cryptosystem'' is commonly used to refer to public key techniques; however both "cipher" and "cryptosystem" are used for symmetric key techniques. Formal definition Mathematically, a cryptosystem or encryption scheme can be defined as a tuple (\mathcal,\mathcal,\mathcal,\mathcal,\mathcal) with the following properties. # \mathcal is a set called the "plaintext space". Its elements are called plaintexts. # \mathcal is a set called th ...

Bundesamt Für Sicherheit In Der Informationstechnik
The Federal Office for Information Security (german: Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik, abbreviated as BSI) is the German upper-level federal agency in charge of managing computer and communication security for the German government. Its areas of expertise and responsibility include the security of computer applications, critical infrastructure protection, Internet security, cryptography, counter eavesdropping, certification of security products and the accreditation of security test laboratories. It is located in Bonn and as of 2020 has about 1,100 employees. Its current president, since 1 February 2016, is former business executive Arne Schönbohm, who took over the presidency from Michael Hange. BSI's predecessor was the cryptographic department of Germany's foreign intelligence agency ( BND). BSI still designs cryptographic algorithms such as the Libelle cipher and initiated the development of the Gpg4win cryptographic suite. Similar agencies The BSI ...

Egisto Ott
There has for years been a controversial relationship between Austria and Russian intelligence. Due to domestic policies and a history of neutrality, Austria has for decades been a center for intelligence activities in Europe. Together with Belgium, it has been considered a hub for Russian intelligence. Austria's role in espionage, particularly as a base for Russian intelligence operations, has been noted by several media outlets. '' Washington Post'' has called Vienna "a haunt for spies", while NBC stated it is "widely regarded as the spying capital of the world". BBC has referred to it as a "centre for espionage". '' New Statesman'' has described Austria as "Russia's tunnel into the heart of Europe" and that Austria is a "compromised state", with the country's attachment to neutrality leading it to cultivate "obsequious relations with Russian energy and espionage". Because of this, Eastern Europeans have at times referred to Austria as "Russia's Trojan horse in Western Europ ...

Cryptographic Software
Encryption software is software that uses cryptography to prevent unauthorized access to digital information. Cryptography is used to protect digital information on computers as well as the digital information that is sent to other computers over the Internet. Classification There are many software products which provide encryption. Software encryption uses a cipher to obscure the content into ciphertext. One way to classify this type of software is the type of cipher used. Ciphers can be divided into two categories: public key ciphers (also known as asymmetric ciphers), and symmetric key ciphers. Encryption software can be based on either public key or symmetric key encryption. Another way to classify software encryption is to categorize its purpose. Using this approach, software encryption may be classified into software which encrypts "data in transit" and software which encrypts " data at rest". Data in transit generally uses public key ciphers, and data at rest generally uses ...

Communications In Germany
Communication (from la, communicare, meaning "to share" or "to be in relation with") is usually defined as the transmission of information. The term may also refer to the message communicated through such transmissions or the field of inquiry studying them. There are many disagreements about its precise definition. John Peters argues that the difficulty of defining communication emerges from the fact that communication is both a universal phenomenon and a specific discipline of institutional academic study. One definitional strategy involves limiting what can be included in the category of communication (for example, requiring a "conscious intent" to persuade). By this logic, one possible definition of communication is the act of developing meaning among entities or groups through the use of sufficiently mutually understood signs, symbols, and semiotic conventions. An important distinction is between verbal communication, which happens through the use of a language, and ...
