Sibsey Railway Station
Sibsey was a railway station on the East Lincolnshire Railway which served the village of Sibsey in Lincolnshire between 1848 and 1964. Withdrawal of passenger services took place in 1961, followed by goods facilities in 1964. The line through the station remains in use as part of the Poacher Line between Boston and Skegness. History The station was opened on 2 October 1848. It was constructed by Peto and Betts civil engineering contractors who, in January 1848, had taken over the contract to construct the section of the East Lincolnshire Railway between and from John Waring and Sons. This section was the last to be completed in September 1848 at an agreed cost of £123,000 (). The village of Sibsey lay to the north-west of the line; at the time, it was a small settlement on the Horncastle Road. Sibsey
Sibsey is a village, civil parish and Wards and electoral divisions of the United Kingdom, electoral ward in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated at the junction of the A16 road (England), A16 and B1184 roads, north from Boston, Lincolnshire, Boston. Sibsey Northlands is to the north of the village. Old Leake was a railway station on the East Lincolnshire Railway which served the village of Old Leake in Lincolnshire between 1848 and 1964. It originally opened as ''Hob Hole'' and was renamed three times within the first five years of opening. Withdrawal of passenger services took place in 1956, followed by goods facilities in 1964. Boston Railway Station
Boston railway station serves the town of Boston in Lincolnshire, England. It is on the Poacher Line. The station is now owned by Network Rail and managed by East Midlands Railway who provide all rail services. History The station opened for service on 17 October 1848 with the opening of the Great Northern Railway East Lincolnshire line. The station has declined in importance since the 1960s. In its heyday the station employed over 50 staff and had two through tracks and cover over the platform tracks. The Skegness bound platform had classic Great Northern Railway architecture buildings as well, now replaced with plastic shelters. Bradford Exchange Railway Station
Bradford Exchange railway station served the city of Bradford, West Riding of Yorkshire, England, from 1850 to 1973, before being replaced by a smaller, new-build station, which was later called Bradford Interchange. Railway lines from Halifax, Queensbury, Wakefield and Leeds met south of the city centre with services terminating in the station. GNR 521 Class
The Great Northern Railway 521 Class was a class of 0-6-0 steam locomotives, introduced in 1911. They were designed by Henry Ivatt for goods traffic. From 1912 to 1922 further examples, slightly modified by Nigel Gresley, were built and designated 536 Class. The most obvious difference was in the front sandboxes. These were below the running plate on the 521 but above it, and merged with the front splashers, on the 536. The boiler and firebox were also moved back, thus resulting in a shortened cab. The London and North Eastern Railway classified them both as J6. Initially, there was to be 120 members of this class. GNR Class H3
The Great Northern Railway (Great Britain), Great Northern Railway Class H2 and H3 (classified K1 and K2 by the London and North Eastern Railway, LNER) was a class of 2-6-0 steam locomotive designed for mixed-traffic work. The class was created as a locomotive which could haul heavier goods trains at speeds of up to 40 mph. The class were later developed into the more powerful GNR Class H4, H4 (LNER Class K3, LNER K3) class. After formation of the London and North Eastern Railway, the type became known as class K1 and K2 and was adopted as an LNER standard design. A sugar beet is a plant whose root contains a high concentration of sucrose and which is grown commercially for sugar production. In plant breeding, it is known as the Altissima cultivar group of the common beet (''Beta vulgaris'').
