Siakago Constituency
Mbeere North Constituency is an electoral constituency in Embu County, Kenya. It was formerly known as Siakago Constituency, one of two constituencies of the former Mbeere District. It has five wards, all of which elected councillors for the Mbeere County Council. The constituency was established for the 1988 elections from the bigger Embu East Constituency, which was divided to Runyenjes and Siakago constituencies. Constituencies of Kenya are used to elect members of the National Assembly, the lower chamber of the Kenyan Parliament. In accordance with article 89 of the 2010 Constitution of Kenya, there are 290 constituencies, based on a formula where these constituencies were to be delineated based on population numbers. 2002 Kenyan General Election
General elections were held in Kenya on 27 December 2002. Voters elected the President, and members of the National Assembly. They coincided with the 2002 Kenyan local elections. Mwai Kibaki of the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) was elected, defeating Uhuru Kenyatta of the Kenya African National Union (KANU) and Simeon Nyachae of FORD–People. Incumbent president Daniel arap Moi was ineligible to pursue a third term due to the two-term limit in the Constitution of Kenya. This was the first truly free general election held in Kenya since independence in 1964; a number of by-elections were held in 1966 before the onset of de facto one-party rule in 1969. Kanyuambora
Kanyuambora is an administrative division in the Mbeere sub-district of Embu County, Eastern Kenya, which is commonly referred to as a "location". It lies on Latitude: 0° -29' 0 N, Longitude: 37° 43' 0 E and is about 90 miles North East of Nairobi. Kanyuambora is one of the eight locations that form Siakago constituency. It was formerly part of the now defunct Mbeere District. Etymology Loosely translated, the name Kanyuambora means "one who drinks honey". The area is named after Kanyuambora hill, which is a conspicuous landmark in the region. The name most probably emanated from an age-old practice by the Ambeere people. During the pre- colonial days, elders would gather at the foot of Kanyuambora hill to drink home-made traditional brew which, in essence, was a concoction of honey and water. Muriuki Charles Njagagua is a Kenyan lawyer and politician who was a member of the 11th parliament of Kenya for Mbeere North Constituency on the ticket of Alliance Party of Kenya (APK). Education and career Njagagua, born in Mbeere, Embu County, studied law at the University of Nairobi from 1992 to 1996. He is managing partner of Muriuki Nyagagua & Associates law firm. 2013 Kenyan General Election
General elections were held in Kenya on 4 March 2013. Voters elected the President, members of the National Assembly and newly formed Senate. They were the first elections held under the new constitution, which was approved in a 2010 referendum, and were also the first run by the new Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). Safina
Safina ( in Swahili) is a political party in Kenya, founded by palaeoanthropologist and conservationist Richard Leakey together with lawyer Paul Muite. History In May 1995, Richard Leakey joined some Kenyan intellectuals in launching a new political party. The Safina party was routinely harassed and even its application to become an official political party was not approved until 1997. That year, international donor institutions froze their aid to Kenya because of widespread corruption. To placate the donors, Daniel arap Moi appointed Leakey as Cabinet Secretary and head of the civil service in 1999. Leakey's second stint in the civil service lasted two years.
