Mohamed Siad Barre ( so, Maxamed Siyaad Barre, Osmanya script: ; ar, محمد سياد بري; c. 1910 – 2 January 1995) was a Somali head of state and general who served as the 3rd president of the Somali Democratic Republic from 1969 to 1991. Abdulkadir Abdi "Siad" Haji (born 1 December 1999) is a Somali professional footballer who plays as a winger for USL Championship club FC Tulsa. Born a Somali refugee in Kenya and a former United States youth international, he plays for the Somalia national team. Early life Haji was born in a Kenyan refugee camp, his parents having fled Somalia. In 2004, they moved to New Hampshire. Haji settled in a refugee community near downtown Manchester, New Hampshire, played youth soccer for the New Hampshire Classics, and was offered a spot on the New England Revolution youth academy's under-16 team. However, the distance and financial logistics made it difficult for him to accept a spot in the academy. He would continue to play for the Classics through high school. Raised in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the last eliminated on ''America's Next Top Model, Cycle 10''. Biography Born in Mogadishu, Somalia to Somali parents, Siad grew up in Somalia with her mother and two sisters. Her parents divorced at a young age. She underwent female genital cutting when she was seven years old. Her two sisters were killed by the Somali army during the civil war. After her sisters’ deaths, Siad and her mother fled to the United States when she was thirteen for safety. Siad states that she lived in a shack and had low self-esteem when she was younger.
