''Shut Out'' is the debut album by American actor, singer and songwriter Paul Jabara. The album which was released on the Casablanca Records label in 1977 includes the singles "Shut Out" (a duet with Donna Summer), "Dance" and "Slow Dancing". The original LP was pressed on red vinyl. ''Shut Out'' has yet to be re-released on CD. Paul Jabara
Paul Jabara, also known as Paul Frederick Jabara, (January 31, 1948 – September 29, 1992) was an American actor, singer, and songwriter of Lebanese ancestry, born in Brooklyn, New York. He wrote Donna Summer's Oscar-winning " Last Dance" from '' Thank God It's Friday'' (1978) as well as "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)" her international hit duet with Barbra Streisand. He also cowrote The Weather Girls iconic hit "It's Raining Men" (with Paul Shaffer). Jabara's cousin Jad Azkoul is a Lebanese-American musician specializing in classical guitar. Actor Jabara was in the original cast of the stage musicals ''Hair'' and ''Jesus Christ Superstar''. Disco is a genre of dance music and a subculture that emerged in the 1970s from the United States' urban nightlife scene. Casablanca Records is an American record label owned by Universal Music Group and operated under Republic Records. Under its founder Neil Bogart, Casablanca was most successful during the disco era of the mid to late 1970s. The label currently focuses on dance and electronic music under the direction of Brett Alperowitz. Biography Casablanca was founded in 1973 by former Buddah Records executive Neil Bogart, who named the label in homage to the 1942 film ''Casablanca''. Ron Dante (born Carmine John Granito, August 22, 1945) is an American singer, songwriter, session vocalist, and record producer. Dante is best known as the real life lead singer of the fictional cartoon band the Archies; he was also the voice of the Cuff Links and co-produced Barry Manilow's first nine albums. Early life Carmine John Granito was born on August 22, 1945 to an Italian-American family in Staten Island, New York, United States. The album, which was released on Casablanca Records in 1978, includes Jabara's song "Trapped in a Stairway" from the movie ''Thank God It's Friday (film), Thank God It's Friday'', his own version of the Grammy Award-winning "Last Dance (Donna Summer song), Last Dance" (originally recorded by Donna Summer) as well as the duets "Something's Missing" (with Summer) and "Take Good Care of My Baby / What's a Girl to Do" (with Pattie Brooks). The lead single from the album was "Dancin' (Lift Your Spirits Higher)". The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music enthusiast David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts. Before the Kent Report, ''Go-Set'' magazine published weekly Top-40 Singles from 1966, and Album charts from 1970 until the magazine's demise in August 1974.
