Shumi Maritsa
"Shumi Maritsa" ( bg, Шуми Марица, ) was the Bulgarian national anthem from 1886 until 1947. The music was derived from the German folk song "Wenn die Soldaten durch die Stadt marschieren" that was very popular in Bulgaria in the mid-19th century. The original text was written by Nikola Zhivkov, a head teacher in Veles (now in North Macedonia). The lyrics were edited many times, most notably in 1912 by the poet Ivan Vazov. The title refers to the Marica river. It literally translates to "Marica makes noise" but the connotation is closer to "Marica roars". History History of the melody On 1839 in Breslau ( Wroclaw), the poet Alexander Kosmar created the satirical farce "The Pirates". Originally, the song was performed with entertainment and satirical sense in cabarets. Shumishi
Shumishi (), or shumi, was an official title in imperial China important in the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, the Liao dynasty, the Song dynasty and the Jin dynasty (1115–1234). ''Shumishi'' managed the Bureau of Military Affairs (). Originally created in 765 in the Tang Dynasty for eunuchs to coordinate and supervise the emperor's paperwork, this post grew in importance since the 870s as eunuchs dominated the imperial Tang government. After the Tang Dynasty fell in the beginning of the 10th century, ''shumishi'' was no longer restricted to eunuchs and indeed was the title of some of highest officeholders in many Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period (907–979) states. In the Song Dynasty (960–1279), a ''shumishi'' was a military affairs commissioner in charge of the entire national military. Genzeb Shumi
Genzeb Shumi Regasa (also known as ''Genzebe Shami Regassa'', born 29 January 1991) is an Ethiopian-born middle distance runner who competes internationally for Bahrain. She won the 1500 metres gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championships in 2011 and the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in 2012. Her personal bests are 2:01.18 minutes for the 800 metres and 4:05.16 minutes for the 1500 m. Career Born in Ethiopia, she began running for Bahrain in 2010, making her debut in the junior race at the 2010 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and finishing seventeenth. She broke the national junior records for the 800 metres and 1500 metres events that year.
