Shulamit Gallery
Shulamit Nazarian is a contemporary art gallery located in Los Angeles, California. History Shulamit Nazarian began as a roving art platform in 2006 and opened a permanent exhibition space in Venice Beach in 2012. After four years in Venice, the gallery relocated to Hollywood in March 2017. Now located at 616 North La Brea Avenue, just south of Melrose Avenue, the 4,000 square foot building, with original bow-truss ceiling and natural light, is used for exhibitions and large-scale artist projects. La Brea Avenue is a prominent north-south thoroughfare in the City of Los Angeles and in Los Angeles County, California. Melrose Avenue is a shopping, dining and entertainment destination in Los Angeles that starts at Santa Monica Boulevard, at the border between Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. Genevieve Gaignard
Genevieve Gaignard, born in Orange, Massachusetts in 1981, is best known for work exploring issues of race, class, and gender. As a self-identified mixed-race woman, Gaignard utilizes photography, videography, and installation to explore the overlap of black and white America through staged environments and character performances. She received an AAS in Baking & Pastry Arts from Johnson & Wales University, her BA in photography from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2007, and an MFA from Yale University in 2014. Gaignard's work is represented by Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects, and has been shown at Shulamit Nazarian, The Cabin, The FLAG Art Foundation, The California African American Museum, The Foley Gallery, and at two residentially-owned art spaces in Los Angeles, CA.
