Shujaat Hashmi is a Pakistani TV and film actor. He is known for his roles in the TV drama '' Waris'' and the film ''Khaak Aur Khoon''. He was honored with the Pride of Performance Award in 1994. Career Hashmi started his career in Yawar Hayat's PTV drama ''Kuhar''. His debut film ''Chhad Buray Di Yaari'' was released in 1975. He gained popularity by acting a role as ''Mauladad'' in Amjad Islam Amjad's TV drama '' Waris'' (1979 - 1980). After the success of ''Waris'', he got a chance to play a lead role in the 1979 Urdu film ''Khaak Aur Khoon'', directed by Masood Parvez. ''Waris'' ( ur, ) is a Pakistani television drama serial created by PTV, written by Amjad Islam Amjad, directed by Ghazanfer Ali and Nusrat Thakur. The first episode was aired from PTV-Lahore on Saturday 29 December 1979 and the last on 22 March 1980 and was an acclaimed mega hit. The show had 13 episodes, which is a traditional PTV drama serial format; with each episode almost one hour long. The Pride of Performance ( ur, ), officially known as Presidential Pride of Performance, is an award bestowed by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to recognize people with "notable achievements in the field of art, science, literature, sports, and nursing". ''Khaak Aur Khoon'' is a 1979 Pakistani Urdu film directed by Masood Parvez and based on the Naseem Hijazi's novel by the same name. Yawar Hayat Khan (18 October 1943 – 3 November 2016), was a producer and director of the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) starting from 1965 to 2004. He is considered one of the chief architects of Pakistan Television drama serials in its early years after television was introduced in Pakistan in 1964. Early life Yawar Hayat Khan was born in Lahore, on 18 October 1943, the eldest son of Brigadier Azmat Hayat Khan and grandson of Sir Sikandar Hayat Khan, the Punjabi Jatt Khattar aristocrat and statesman. From his mother's side he was the nephew of Anwar Kamal Pasha, a famed early film director of Pakistan and a grandson of the famous Urdu poet and writer, Hakim Ahmad Shuja. Masood Parvez (1918 10 March 2001), also spelled as Masud Pervaiz, was a Pakistani film director known for his work in Lollywood.
