Shrewsbury Cricket Club
Shrewsbury Cricket Club is an amateur cricket club in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. Their 1st XI currently plays in the Birmingham and District Premier League Premier Division and their 2nd XI plays in the Shropshire Premier Division. They won the William Younger Cup in 1983 and 2011. They were semi-finalists in the same competition in 2009. In 2010 they won The Birmingham Premier League and won it again in 2013. They play their home games at London Road, Shrewsbury. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Shropshire County Cricket Club
Shropshire County Cricket Club is one of twenty minor county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Shropshire. The team is a member of the Minor Counties Championship Western Division and plays in the MCCA Knockout Trophy. Joe Leach
Joseph Leach (born 30 October 1990) is an English cricketer who plays for Worcestershire. Leach is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm medium. He was born in Stafford, Staffordshire, and was educated at Shrewsbury School. Career Leach made his debut for Staffordshire against Buckinghamshire in the 2008 Minor Counties Championship. The following season he made a further appearance in that competition for the county, against Northumberland at Osborne Avenue, Jesmond. He also made a single appearance in the MCCA Knockout Trophy in 2009 against Suffolk. Leach joined Shropshire in 2010, making his debut for the county in the MCCA Knockout Trophy against Cumberland. Worcestershire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Worcestershire. Its Vitality Blast T20 team has been rebranded the Worcestershire Rapids, but the county is known by most fans as 'the Pears'. The club is based at New Road, Worcester. Jack Shantry
Jack David Shantry (born 29 January 1988) is a former English cricketer who played county cricket for Worcestershire. He is now an umpire. Career Shantry played for Shropshire Under-17s as early as July 2004, scoring 64 at the top of the order against Yorkshire Under-17s. He made several further appearances for Shropshire Under-17s, and also played for Shrewsbury Cricket Club, appearing in the Cockspur Cup and making an appearance against Kidderminster Victoria in the Birmingham and District Premier League. In 2007 and 2008, Shantry progressed to a mixture of senior cricket at minor counties level with Shropshire County Cricket Club and Second XI cricket for Worcestershire. He took 7/34 for Worcestershire Second XI against Leicestershire II in June 2008, and scored 88 for Shropshire against Wales Minor Counties in August of the same year. Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Nottinghamshire. The club's limited overs team is called the Notts Outlaws. The county club was founded in 1841, although teams had played first-class cricket under the Nottinghamshire name since 1835. James William Arthur Taylor (born 6 January 1990) is an English former cricketer who played for Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. A right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm leg break bowler, Taylor made his debut in first-class cricket in 2008 for Leicestershire and made major impressions in his first county seasons. He is noted as being a fine fielder in the covers. He became the youngest Leicestershire one-day centurion and first-class double centurion.
