''Showbread Is Showdead'' is the eleventh and final studio album from Showbread (band), Showbread. They released the album on January 8, 2016. Critical reception Taylor Weston, allotting the album four and a half stars by ''HM Magazine'', recognizes, "Showbread Is Showdead, tips a courteous hat towards the band’s history, before injecting a fresh dose of adrenaline and entering into uncharted territory. Showbread (band)
Showbread is an American Christian hardcore band formed in Guyton, Georgia, in 1997. The group has gone through numerous lineup changes since its initial formation, but maintains its two core members, Josh Dies and Patrick Porter. The group built an underground fanbase in the late 1990s and early 2000s through word-of-mouth exposure and frequent touring. In 2004, the band signed with Tooth & Nail Records and released their major-label debut, '' No Sir, Nihilism Is Not Practical''. In 2010, the band left Tooth & Nail and joined Come&Live!, an independent record label that releases music via free downloads. Throughout their career, the band has been subject to much controversy among Christian listeners, over their lyrical themes and personal lifestyles. The members of Showbread have labeled their musical sound as "Raw Rock". Christian punk is a form of Christian music and a subgenre of punk rock which contain Christian lyrical content. Much disagreement persists about the boundaries of the subgenre, and the extent that their lyrics are explicitly Christian varies among bands. ''Cancer'' is a science-fiction rock opera and the tenth studio album by American rock band Showbread. The album was released in 2012 through non-profit record label Come&Live!. ''Cancer'' was produced by Rich Veltrop, who had previously co-produced Showbread's albums ''No Sir, Nihilism Is Not Practical'', '' Age of Reptiles'', '' The Fear of God'' and ''Who Can Know It?''. This is the band's second album to be funded completely by fans and released as a free download without the assistance of a major record label.
