Shoshi (tribe)
Shoshi is a historical Albanian tribe (''fis'') and region of northern Albania in the lower Shala valley. Shoshi is first recorded as a small settlement in 1485. The fis itself traces its origin to the brothers Gjol and Pep Suma. The community of their descendants gradually grew to control part of the Dukagjin highlands. In the 19th century Shoshi also became a bajrak. Geography The Shoshi region stands in north-western Albania, in Shkodër County. It stands about 52 km away from the city of Shkodra. In terms of regional boundaries, Shoshi stands south of Shala, north of Shllaku, west of Toplana and Dushmani and east of Kiri. Lis Shoshi (born June 29, 1994) is a Kosovan professional basketball player who last played for Maccabi Rishon LeZion (basketball), Maccabi Rishon LeZion in the Israeli Basketball Premier League. He played college basketball for Howard College and Little Rock Trojans men's basketball, University of Arkansas at Little Rock before playing professionally in Kosovo, Lithuania and Israel. College career Shoshi played two seasons under head coach Scott Raines at Howard College, where he was named the Western Junior College Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and Honorable Mention All-WJCAC in 2015. In his senior year at Little Rock Trojans men's basketball, Little Rock, Shoshi averaged 8.9 points and a team-high 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. Maringlen Shoshi (born 29 January 1987) is an Albanian professional footballer who plays as a defender for KF Ferizaj in the Football Superleague of Kosovo. Club career Early career In the summer of 2008, Shoshi was loaned out to Besa Kavajë for their matches against Grasshopper Club Zürich in the 2008 UEFA Intertoto Cup. Bylis Ballsh In the summer of 2010, Shoshi completed a transfer to fellow top flight side Bylis Ballsh. Zef Shoshi
Zef Pashko Shoshi (born 1939 in Tirana) is one of the most renowned Albanian painters. He studied at the Art Academy in Moscow, Russia which influenced to a certain degree the style of his paintings. His talent and great technique was quickly recognized by the Albanian art circles, and caught the eye of the dictator Enver Hoxha who choose Zef Shoshi as his personal painter. A lot of government offices carried Shoshi's best works on their walls for a long time until the communists left and his work was sold illegally across Europe without him ever knowing or profiting from it. During the 1970s, his painting adopted a more modern style, which almost got him in trouble with the regime at the time. Some of his best-regarded work is in art galleries across Albania and Europe and sometimes part of someone's private collection.
