Shoshana Chatfield
Shoshana Simone Chatfield (born October 5, 1965) is a United States Navy rear admiral, and served as the president of the Naval War College from 2019 to 2023. She is the first woman to ever hold that position. Early life and education Shoshana Chatfield hails from Garden Grove, California, graduating from Pacifica High School in 1983. She then received her bachelor's degree in International Relations and French from Boston University in 1987. After she received a commission in the Navy, she would attend the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard and receive a Master's degree in Public Administration. Admiral Chatfield would go on to receive a Doctorate of education from the University of San Diego. Military career Admiral Chatfield commissioned through Boston University's Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps program, and qualified as a naval helicopter pilot in 1989. Pacifica High School (Garden Grove, California)
Pacifica High School is a high school in Garden Grove, California, United States, within the Garden Grove Unified School District. It opened in 1965 and has enrolled more than two thousand students yearly. The communities serving Pacifica are western Garden Grove and sections of Stanton and Cypress. Campus A campus landmark is a Navy anchor in the quad. At first painted blue but repainted black in 2011, the anchor was donated by the U.S Navy. On May 1, a new gym opened. The new gymnasium is a state-of-the-art building that is an 18,250-square foot multi-function facility that houses three full-size basketball courts and can convert to nine volleyball courts. The gym allows for seating for up to 1,584 people and includes a lobby, locker rooms, coach's offices, equipment storage, and more. In the United States, commander is a military rank that is also sometimes used as a military billet title—the designation of someone who manages living quarters or a base—depending on the branch of service. It is also used as a rank or title in non-military organizations; particularly in law enforcement. As rank History The commander rank started out as "Master and Commander" in 1674 within the Royal Navy for the officer responsible for sailing a ship under the Captain and sometimes second-in-command.
