Shorts (2013 Film)
''Shorts'' is a compilation of five short films directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, Vasan Bala, Anubhuti Kashyap (Anurag Kashyap's sister), Shlok Sharma and Gitanjali Rao. The five short films titled ''Sujata'', ''Mehfuz'', ''Audacity'', ''Epilogue'', and ''Shor'' were released on 12 July 2013. The ''Gangs of Wasseypur'' trio – Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Huma Qureshi and Richa Chadda- teamed up again for the anthology co-produced by Guneet Monga and Anurag Kashyap, also featuring newcomers Murari Kumar, Arjun Srivasava, Satya Anand, Vineet Kumar Singh, Preeti Singh and Ratnabali. Anurag Kashyap
Anurag Kashyap (born 10 September 1972) is an Indian filmmaker and actor known for his works in Hindi cinema. He is the recipient of several accolades, including four Filmfare Awards. For his contributions to film, the Government of France awarded him the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and letters) in 2013. After writing a television serial, Kashyap got his major break as a co-writer in Ram Gopal Varma's crime drama '' Satya'' (1998) and made his directorial debut with ''Paanch'', which never had a theatrical release due to censorship issues. He then went on to direct '' Black Friday'' (2004), a film based on the namesake book by Hussain Zaidi about the 1993 Bombay bombings. Its release was held up for two years by the Central Board of Film Certification because of the pending verdict of the case at that time but was released in 2007 to widespread critical appreciation. Gangs Of Wasseypur
''Gangs of Wasseypur'' is a 2012 Indian Hindi-language two-part crime film produced and directed by Anurag Kashyap, and written by Kashyap and Zeishan Quadri. Centered on the coal mafia (Mafia Raj) of Dhanbad, and the underlying power struggles, politics and vengeance between three crime families, the film has an ensemble cast, with Manoj Bajpai, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Pankaj Tripathi, Richa Chadda, Huma Qureshi and Tigmanshu Dhulia in the major roles. Its story spans 68 years from 1941 to 2009. Both parts were originally shot as a single film measuring a total of 321 minutes and screened at the 2012 Cannes Directors' Fortnight, but, since no Indian theatre would volunteer to screen a more-than-five-hour film, it was split into two parts for that market. Gitanjali Rao
Gitanjali Rao (born 1972) is an Indian theatre actress, animator and film maker. Biography and career Gitanjali graduated as an applied artist from Sir. J. J. Institute of Applied Art, Mumbai, in 1994. Two animated short films independently produced and directed by her, ''Orange'' and 'Printed Rainbow'. Her debut animation short '' Printed Rainbow'' (2006) had won the Kodak Short Film Award, Small Golden Rail and the Young Critics Award at Critics Week section at Cannes in 2006. Shlok Sharma
Shlok Sharma is an Indian director, screenwriter and producer known for his works in Hindi cinema. His notable works include the 2013 anthology film Shorts, the 2017 feature film Haraamkhor and the 2018 feature film Zoo. Early career Shlok's father was a Yoga teacher to director Vishal Bhardwaj and lyricist Gulzar. After completing his higher secondary education, Shlok decided not to pursue education further and build a career in film-making. His father recommended him to Bhardwaj who hired him as a production assistant on his 2005 film, The Blue Umbrella. He then went on to work with Bhardwaj on his next film, Omkara. Neeraj Ghaywan is an Indian film director and writer who works in Hindi films. He is the winner of several accolades including a National film Award and two Filmfare Awards. Ghaywan assisted filmmaker Anurag Kashyap on ''Gangs of Wasseypur'' (2012) and '' Ugly'' (2013) before he made his directorial debut in 2015 with ''Masaan'' which received wide acclaim and won two prizes at the Cannes Film festival including the FIPRESCI prize.
