Shores
Shores is a band from Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Minneapolis, Minnesota. The band is often described as "slowcore". Shores began as a recording project between guitarist, vocalist and bass guitarist Brian Przybylski, and drummer John Massel in summer 2008. After the completion of their second LP, ''To Volstead'', guitarist Sean Stearns and bass guitarist Billy Bartholomew were added to the band.http://www.ampmagazine.com/12464/shores-interview-with-brian-przybylski/ Massel and Shores parted ways at the start of 2013. Shores are most known for their frequent recording output, having released their first full-length LP, ''Coup de Grace'' at The Fest in October 2010, followed by three more records at The Fest 10 in October 2011. No Idea Records
No Idea Records is an American independent record label based in Gainesville, Florida which focuses on punk rock and its sub-styles and produces both vinyl records and compact discs. The label also organizes The Fest, an independently operated annual festival known for featuring over 250 punk, pop punk, country, heavy metal, indie rock, avant-garde and other musical acts across many venues for 3 days in Gainesville each fall. No Idea Records started not as a record label, but as a zine in 1985, published independently by Var Thelin and Ken Coffelt and some friends of theirs from high school. By the seventh issue in 1989, Var was running the zine with Sarah Dyer and other contributors and collaborators. Starting with the sixth edition, the No Idea zine included 7-inch records with each issue. The Fest
The Fest is an annual music festival in Gainesville, Florida, United States, organized by Tony Weinbender, formerly of No Idea Records. It is a predominantly punk rock and pop-punk festival, though there are also a good number of indie rock, hardcore punk, metal, and ska acts. The Fest takes place each year on the weekend of the Florida–Georgia football game (around Halloween) held in Jacksonville. History The Fest first took place May 24 and 25, 2002, and has since attracted a large turnout throughout the years. Bands perform across a variety of venues (varying from small bars to large concert halls) in the downtown Gainesville area. Fest 20, held October 28-30, 2022, featured headlining acts such as Hot Water Music, The Mezningers, Anti-Flag, The Flatliners, Avail, and Samiam, as well as hundreds of other bands including The BollweevilsCelebration Summer SPELLS, The Dopamines, Kali Masi, Heavy Seas, and more.
