Shooting At The 2016 Summer Olympics – Men's 50 Metre Rifle Prone
The men's 50 metre rifle prone event at the 2016 Olympic Games took place on 12 August 2016 at the National Shooting Center. The event consisted of two rounds: a qualifier and a final. In the qualifier, each shooter fired 60 shots with a .22 long rifle at 50 metres distance from the prone position. Scores for each shot were in increments of 1, with a maximum score of 10. The top 8 shooters in the qualifying round moved on to the final round. There, they fired an additional 10 shots. These shots were scored in increments of .1, with a maximum score of 10.9. The total score from all 70 shots were used to determine final ranking. Sergey Rikhter ( he, סרגיי ריכטר; russian: Серге́й Рихтер; born 23 April 1989) is a USSR-born Israeli Olympic sport shooter. He shares the junior world record in the 10 metre air rifle, and was the 2009 ISSF World Cup champion. Gagan Narang (born 6 May 1983) is an Indian sport shooter, supported by the Olympic Gold Quest. He won the bronze medal in the Men's 10 m Air Rifle Event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London with a final score of 701.1 on 30 July 2012. Early life and background Gagan was born to Bhimsen Narang and his wife Amarjit, in a Punjabi Hindu Arora family in Chennai on 6 May 1983. His father is a retired chief manager of the Air India.
