Men's 50 metre rifle three positions was the last rifle event to be concluded at the 2000 Summer Olympics, on 23 September. The Sydney International Shooting Centre in Cecil Park, New South Wales, Australia was built for the shooting events at the 2000 Summer Olympics. Artur Ayvazyan
Artur Surenovych Ayvazyan ( hy, Արթուր Այվազյան; uk, Артур Суренович Айвазян, born 14 January 1973) is an Olympic shooter for Ukraine and Russia who won a gold medal in the 50 metre rifle prone event at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Born in Armenia, Ayvazyan took up shooting in 1985 and moved to Ukraine in 1990, when he competed in his first major international tournament as a junior. He won one medal as a junior, in 1993, before moving up to the senior division in 1994. He moved to Simferopol in 1997 to train with a new coach and captured his first ISSF World Cup victory the following year. As of 2012 he has participated in every edition of the Olympics since 2000 and has won six World and seven European Championship medals in individual and team events, including his junior bronze from 1993. Christer Mats Roger Hansson (born 3 April 1970, in Kalmar) is a Swedish sport shooter. He has competed for Sweden in rifle shooting at two Olympics (2000 and 2004), and has attained numerous top ten finishes in a major international competition, spanning the ISSF World Cup series and the European Championships, Hansson trains under head coach Stefan Lindblom for the national team, while shooting at Mönsterås SF. Hansson's Olympic debut came as a 30-year-old in rifle shooting at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. Thomas Farnik, born 6 January 1967 in Vienna, is an Austrian rifle shooter. He was twelve years old when his father introduced him to shooting. He started with a rifle, and his father remained involved with his early training. He competed at six consecutive Olympics from 1992 to 2012. His best position was fifth in the Three Positions at the 2008 Olympics, when he was 2.8 points behind the bronze medal score of 1271.7. He also came sixth in the 10m Air Rifle at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and the 50m Three Positions at the 2004 Athens Olympics. He won gold in the 10m Air Rifle at the 2006 ISSF World Cup, setting a world record of 703.1 at the finals in Granada that survived till 2008 (when it was broken by Gagan Narang). Espen Berg-Knutsen
Espen Berg-Knutsen (born 2 October 1969 in Oslo) is a Norwegian sport shooter. He is also a three-time Olympian, two-time World champion, and world-record holder for the 300 m rifle three positions. Shooting career Since his sporting career began in 1982, Berg-Knutsen is considered one of Norway's most prominent sport shooters, having achieved numerous successes in rifle shooting events at the ISSF World Championships, ISSF World Cup, and European Championships. He had also won a total of three medals at the ISSF World Championships, including two golds (1998 in Zaragoza, Spain, and 2006 in Zagreb, Croatia).
