Richard Rosson
Richard Rosson (April 4, 1893 – May 31, 1953) was an American film director and actor. As an actor, he was known for the nearly 100 films he was in during the silent era. As a director, he directed the logging sequences in the 1936 film '' Come and Get It''. Career Rosson's first directorial effort was the 1926 American black and white silent comedy film ''Fine Manners'', initially directed by Lewis Milestone for Famous Players-Lasky/Paramount Pictures. After an argument with actress Gloria Swanson, Milestone walked off the set, leaving the film to be completed by Rosson, who had picked up directorial tricks while working as an assistant director to Allan Dwan. The success of the film, being Rosson's first directorial effort since he co-directed ''Her Father's Keeper'' in 1917 with his brother Arthur Rosson, won him a long-term contract with Famous Players-Lasky. Richard Carlyle
Richard Carlyle (March 20, 1914 – November 15, 2009) was a film, television and Broadway actor. Early years Carlyle was born in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. His education included attendance at Sherwood Dramatic Art School and the Art Institute of Chicago. Career Carlyle's early work on stage came with the troupe at the Barter Theatre and in stock theatre in Springfield, Illinois. On television, Carlyle co-starred in "The Long Walk", the May 30, 1950, episode of ''Cameo Theatre''. In 1951, Carlyle starred as Jack Casey in the television version of ''Casey, Crime Photographer'' on CBS. He had a prolific career beginning in the 1950s appearing in a variety of theatre productions and as a character actor on numerous television series. He played Rezin Bowie in ''The Iron Mistress'' (1952) and Commander Don Adams in the Oscar-nominated war drama ''Torpedo Run'' (1959) starring Glenn Ford. Arthur Millett
Arthur Millett (April 21, 1874 in Pittsfield, Maine – February 24, 1952 in Los Angeles, California), born Arthur Nelson Millett, was an early American motion picture actor whose career was at its height in the silent film era. Biography Born in 1874, Millett was signed on to appear in his first film relatively late in life at age 40 in 1914, but immediately work began to pick up. His first film ''The Lost Treasure'' was released in 1914. In 1915, he starred in films such as '' Coals of Fire'' and ''The Law of the Wilds'', working with prolific actors such as Harry von Meter and Vivian Rich. Millett starred in a total of 116 film in his career. With the advent of sound films, however, his career declined significantly. In the majority of the roles in his 60 or so films after 1927, Millett was uncredited. Millett was married to actress Neva Gerber. He retired from film in 1940 and died in 1952. George Guy Oliver (September 25, 1878 – September 1, 1932) was an American actor. He appeared in at least 189 silent film era motion pictures and 32 talkies in character roles between 1911 and 1931. His obituary gives him credit for at least 600. He directed three films in 1915. Early years Oliver was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of J. O. and Beno Oliver, on September 25, 1889. His father bought a music store in Lamar, Missouri, in 1891, and a few years later he formed the Lamar Ladies' Silver Cornet Band. Oliver was playing cornet in the group when he was 6 years old, and his mother was the conductor. Later the family formed The Musical Olivers, a troupe that "played Carthage, Springfield, Joplin, Rolla, and nearly every other town and city in Missouri". Later the group affiliated with the Southern Carnival Company and traveled across the United States. His mother's death ended the family performances. Biography Born in 1893 in Rockford, Illinois, Underwood's movie debut was in '' The Count'', a 1916 Chaplin short film created for the Mutual Film Corporation. Underwood is uncredited as he was for the four other Mutual shorts in which he appeared. In 1918, Chaplin started work for First National and Loyal Underwood was on hand. He was credited and appeared in all seven First National Shorts which Chaplin directed. Underwood was a short man. Next to the short Chaplin at , he appeared puny and weak. Hence, the comedy of a situation in which such a man is the antagonist; Chaplin's character routinely shrugged him off. Between 1921 and 1927, Underwood appeared in several other lesser known films.
