Shoot The Sun Down
''Shoot the Sun Down'' is a 1978 American Neo-Western film made in the style of Sergio Leone. It is directed by David Leeds, written by Leeds and Richard Rothstein, and stars Christopher Walken, Margot Kidder, Geoffrey Lewis, Bo Brundin, and A Martinez. Plot In the late 1830s, when much of the Old West was still under Mexican governance, four people are traveling through the deserts, north of Texas and a three-day ride from Santa Fe. Along with the difficulties of Americans and Spanish Troops, much of the unmonitored areas are controlled by competing tribes of Native Americans such as the Navajo, Apache and Hopi. Richard Rothstein (screenwriter)
Richard David Rothstein was an American screenwriter and director. He is best known for the original screenplay '' Universal Soldier'', which was followed by five sequels in 1998, 1999, 2009, 2012. He is the creator of the HBO TV series '' The Hitchhiker'' as well as the writer/director of many of the episodes. He has written many screenplays in the science fiction/horror genre and has had several graphic novels published. Rothstein died on April 16, 2018 at his home in Los Angeles. Biography Rothstein was born in Torrington, Connecticut and grew up on Long Island. He attended Syracuse University, graduated from New York University, and got a J.D. from Temple Law School. He practiced law in New York for two years before coming to Los Angeles. He and his wife, Bushra, a psychoanalyst, reside in Los Angeles and have three children, Sara, Joshua, and Jessie as well as four grandchildren. American Bison
The American bison (''Bison bison'') is a species of bison native to North America. Sometimes colloquially referred to as American buffalo or simply buffalo (a different clade of bovine), it is one of two extant species of bison, alongside the European bison. Sacheen Littlefeather
Marie Louise Cruz (November 14, 1946 – October 2, 2022), better known as Sacheen Littlefeather, was an American actress, model, and activist on behalf of Native American civil rights. Littlefeather represented Marlon Brando at the 45th Academy Awards in 1973, where she on Brando's behalf declined the Best Actor award that he won for his performance in ''The Godfather''. The favorite to win, Brando boycotted the ceremony as a protest against Hollywood's portrayal of Native Americans and to draw attention to the standoff at Wounded Knee. During her speech, the audience's response to Brando's boycotting was divided between booing and applause. After the Academy Award speech, Littlefeather worked in hospice care. She continued her activism for Native American issues including healthcare and unemployment, and produced films about Native Americans. Indentured servitude is a form of labor in which a person is contracted to work without salary for a specific number of years. The contract, called an " indenture", may be entered "voluntarily" for purported eventual compensation or debt repayment, or it may be imposed as a judicial punishment. Historically, it has been used to pay for apprenticeships, typically when an apprentice agreed to work for free for a master tradesman to learn a trade (similar to a modern internship but for a fixed length of time, usually seven years or less).
