Shobuj Bangla Class Patrol Craft
The ''Sobuj Bangla'' class is a class of Patrol boat, inshore patrol vessel (IPV) family of the Bangladesh Coast Guard built in three batches. This class is a subclass of the Padma-class patrol vessel with similar design but less displacement and different armaments. History ''Sobuj Bangla''-class ships are constructed at Dockyard and Engineering Works Limited. Their design and construction is supported by ''China Shipbuilding Trading Company (CSTC)''. They were ordered as part of the Bangladesh government's plan for expansion of the Bangladesh Coast Guard. The contract for the first two ships were signed in 2015. Dockyard And Engineering Works Limited
Dockyard and Engineering Works (DEW) Limited is a ship construction and repair yard at the Narayanganj, Bangladesh owned by the Government of Bangladesh under Ministry of Defence (Bangladesh), Ministry of Defence and managed by the Bangladesh Navy. The yard built many small to medium-sized patrol boats for the Bangladesh Coast Guard and landing craft for the Bangladesh Navy. History The shipyard was founded in 1922. Initially, it was a profit-making institution which continued after the independence of Bangladesh. But it experienced a period of loss starting from the nineties. As a result, it was laid off in 2002. On 7 December 2007, the yard was handed over to the Bangladesh Navy. From then, it is regaining its standard. The Khulna Shipyard Limited ( bn, ) is a Bangladeshi state owned defense contractor based in Khulna, Bangladesh. It is located on 68.97 acres of land at Labanchara, Khulna, Bangladesh. It is about 45 km north from the Port of Mongla. The shipyard has the capacity to build steel / aluminium ships up to 90 m length and 700 tons lightweight. Oerlikon KBA
The Oerlikon KBA is a 25 mm (25×137mm) autocannon, developed as a close range multipurpose weapon for the mechanised battlefield, originally made by Oerlikon (now Rheinmetall AG) and currently produced in Rheinmetall Italia S.p.A. facilities. It is a positively locked breech, gas-operated cannon with a rotating bolt head and a dual-belt selective feed system taking a 25mm NATO cartridge. The rate of fire in burst mode is 600 rounds per minute but it can be adjusted electronically and reduced to single shot or a selectable range between 100 and 200 rounds per minute. Bangladesh Coast Guard
The Bangladesh Coast Guard ( bn, বাংলাদেশ কোস্ট গার্ড; BCG) is the maritime law enforcement force of Bangladesh. It is a paramilitary force which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Its officers and sailors are transferred from Bangladesh Navy, and most of the medical officers are transferred from Bangladesh Army. CGS ''Sobuj Bangla'' is the lead vessel of the Sobuj Bangla-class inshore patrol vessels of the Bangladesh Coast Guard. She is serving the Bangladesh Coast Guard since 2020. Career The ship was laid down on 21 April 2015. She was launched on 1 December 2016. She was handed over to the Bangladesh Coast Guard on 1 August 2018. The draft or draught of a ship's hull is the vertical distance between the waterline and the bottom of the hull (keel). The draught of the vessel is the maximum depth of any part of the vessel, including appendages such as rudders, propellers and drop keels if deployed. Draft determines the minimum depth of water a ship or boat can safely navigate. The related term air draft is the maximum height of any part of the vessel above the water. The more heavily a vessel is loaded, the deeper it sinks into the water, and the greater its draft. The displacement or displacement tonnage of a ship is its weight. As the term indicates, it is measured indirectly, using Archimedes' principle, by first calculating the volume of water displaced by the ship, then converting that value into weight.
