Sho Watanabe ( ja, 渡辺翔) is a Japanese wheelchair racer, who won the 2017 Tokyo Marathon, came second at the 2020 Tokyo Marathon, and came third at the 2017 New York City Marathon and the 2023 Tokyo Marathon, 2023 and 2024 Tokyo Marathons. Personal life Watanabe is from Fukuoka, Japan. Career Watanabe came second in the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships – Men's 10,000 metres, 10,000 metres T54 race at the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships. Watanabe won the 2017 Tokyo Marathon, beating race favourite Marcel Hug. In the same year, Watanabe finished third at the 2017 New York City Marathon. 2017 London Marathon
The 2017 London Marathon was the 37th running of the annual marathon race in London, England, which took place on Sunday, 23 April. Mary Jepkosgei Keitany won the women's race, setting a new women-only marathon world record with a time of 2:17:01, while Daniel Wanjiru came first in the men's race in 2:05:48. David Weir (wheelchair athlete), David Weir claimed a record breaking seventh win at the London Marathon in the men's wheelchair event. The win broke a tie between Weir and Tanni Gray Thompson for the most wins at the London Marathon. Around 253,930 people applied to enter the race: 53,229 had their applications accepted and 40,048 started the race. These were all record highs for the race. The London Marathon is an annual marathon held in London, United Kingdom, and is the 2nd largest annual road race in the UK, after the Great North Run in Newcastle. The 2021 London Marathon was the 41st running of the annual London Marathon on 3 October 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the race was postponed from April until October to maximise the chances of a mass participation event. The elite events were won by Sisay Lemma of Ethiopia and Joyciline Jepkosgei of Kenya, in 2:04:01 and 2:17:43, respectively. The wheelchair races were won by Marcel Hug and Manuela Schär, both of Switzerland, in 1:26:27 and 1:39:52, respectively. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the race was postponed from 26 April and only allowed elite participants; the mass participation event was cancelled. The Singapore Marathon is an annual international marathon race which is held on the first Sunday of December in the city of Singapore. It is a World Athletics Gold Label Road Race.
