Shmuel Mikunis
Shmuel Mikunis ( he, שמואל מיקוניס, 10 August 1903 – 20 May 1982) was a communist Israeli politician and member of the Knesset from 1949 until 1974. Biography Born in Polonne in the Russian Empire (today in Ukraine), Mikunis immigrated to Mandatory Palestine in 1921. He attended a polytechnic in France, and was qualified as an engineer, working for the Shell Oil Company between 1933 and 1945. He joined the Palestine Communist Party, and became secretary of its central committee in 1939. In 1944 he was elected to the Assembly of Representatives. When Maki (the Communist Party of Israel) was formed, he joined and served as its secretary until 1974. He also acted as an emissary of the party to communist countries to try to obtain weapons for the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. Polonne
Polonne () is a city on the Khomora River in Shepetivka Raion, Khmelnytskyi Oblast (province) of western Ukraine. Polonne hosts the administration of Polonne urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. The current estimated population is Polonne is situated on the Shepetivka-Berdychiv railroad line. History Polonne has been known at least since 996, when it was first mentioned as a taxation subject in relation to Prince Volodymyr the Great's Desyatynna Church. Moshe Sneh
Moshe Sneh ( he, מֹשֶׁה סְנֶה ; 6 January 1909 – 1 March 1972) was a Haganah commander and an Israeli politician. One of the founders of Mapam, he later joined the Israeli Communist Party (Maki). Biography Mosze Klaynboym (later Sneh) attended high school in Poland before studying natural sciences, mathematics and medicine at the University of Warsaw, gaining an MD in 1935. Whilst a student, he was a member of the ''Yardinia'' Zionist student organisation, becoming its chairman in 1926, and was also chairman of the Medical Jewish Students Union. He became the editor of the ''Nowe Słowo'' newspaper in 1931, and the political editor of ''Haynt'' in 1933. In 1932 he was elected to the central committee of the Zionist Federation of Poland, and was a leader of the radical Zionists. In 1935 he also became a member of the Zionist Executive Committee.
