Shiromani Akali Dal (Panthic)
Shiromani Akali Dal (Panthic) is a defunct Indian political party in Punjab.It is one of several hard-line splinter group, formed as a result of the split in Shiromani Akali Dal in 1991. SAD(P) was formed in 1990. It is led by Jasbir Singh Rode. The party was a Sikh-centered political party in the Indian state of Punjab. In January 1992 SAD (Panthik) merged with the Shiromani Akali Dal (Longowal). Amarinder however felt marginalized, and in February 1997 the SAD (Panthik) was re-launched. Captain Amarinder Singh
Captain Amarinder Singh (born 11 March 1942), is an Indian politician, military historian, former royal and Indian Army veteran who served as the 15th Chief Minister of Punjab. A former Member of the Legislative Assembly, Punjab and Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, he was also the president of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. He has also previously served as the Chief Minister of Punjab from 2002 to 2007 and 2017 to 2021. His father was the last Maharaja of the princely state of Patiala. He has also served in the Indian Army from 1963 to 1966. In 1980, he won a seat in the Lok Sabha for the first time. As of November 2022, Singh also serves as the chairman of the Punjab Urdu Academy. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) (translation: ''Supreme Akali Party'') is a centre-right sikh-centric state political party in Punjab, India. The party is the second-oldest in India, after Congress, being founded in 1920. Although there are many parties with the description ''Akali Dal'', the party that is recognised as "Shiromani Akali Dal ( Badal ) Aka Badal Dal " by the Election Commission of India is the one led by Sukhbir Singh Badal. Shiromani Akali Dal (Longowal) was a splinter group of the Parkash Singh Badal-led Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). The party was launched in 2004 with Surjit Kaur Barnala (wife of SAD leader Surjit Singh Barnala) as its president. Prem Singh Chandumajra also joined it after being denied a ticked by the Badal-led SAD, but later left to join SAD (Badal) again in 2007. The party contested the Patiala seat, but failed. In 2007, the party merged back into the Badal-led Shiromani Akali Dal. Later, however, the party split out of SAD again.
