Flag Of Uzbekistan
The flag of Uzbekistan ( uz, Oʻzbekiston davlat bayrogʻi / Ўзбекистон Республикасининг давлат байроғи) consists of three horizontal azure, white and green bands separated by two thin red fimbriations, with a white crescent moon and twelve white stars at the canton. Adopted in 1991 to replace the flag of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic (SSR), it has been the flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan since the country gained independence in that same year. Sirdaryo Region
Sirdaryo Region (, russian: Сырдарьинская область, Syrdaryinskaya oblast) is one of the regions of Uzbekistan, located in the center of the country on the left bank of Syr Darya River. It borders with Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Tashkent Region, and Jizzakh Region. It covers an area of , and is mostly desert, with the Starving Steppe taking up a significant part of the region's area. The population is estimated to be 860,900 (2021). The capital is the city of Guliston (pop. est. 91,300, 2021). Uzbekistan Time
Uzbekistan time is the standard time in Uzbekistan; it is 5 hours ahead of UTC, UTC+05:00. The standard time uses no daylight saving time, though there has been constant debate whether to adopt it in order to increase leisure time. After the breakup of the Soviet Union there were two time zones in Uzbekistan. In the Soviet era most time zones were daylight time in the winter and double daylight time in the summer. The western part of the country observed Samarkand Time 5 or 6 hours ahead of UTC. The eastern part observed Tashkent Time 6 or 7 hours ahead of UTC. In 1991 the clocks did not move forward in the spring to maintain single daylight time only in the summer. That fall a unified time zone was adopted 5 hours ahead of UTC. Syrdarya Power Plant
Syrdarya Power Plant is a natural gas-fired power plant located in Shirin, Uzbekistan. Its ten units were commissioned in 1972–1981. The installed capacity of the power plant is 3,050 MW. Modernization of the Syrdarya Power Plant a been financed by international donors. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in cooperation with the Asian Development Bank financed reconstruction of two generation units by Siemens. Farkhad Dam
The Farkhad Dam (russian: Фархадская ГЭС) (also known as Dam-16) is a hydroelectric and irrigation dam on the Spitamen District, Spitamen in Sughd Province, Tajikistan. It is a part of the Naryn-Syr Darya Cascade. The dam is located on the territory of Tajikistan and controlled by Tajikistan, while the Farkhad hydropower station, operated by Uzbekenergo. History Construction of the Farkhad Dam was initiated in 1942 during World War II. Its architect was Joseph Karakis and it was constructed by ''Farhadstroy''. Construction works were mainly carried out by German and Japanese war prisoners. On 18 February 1948, the first generating unit was commissioned and construction was completed in 1949.
