The Shire of Mullewa was a local government area in the Mid West region of Western Australia, about east of the city of Geraldton and about north of the state capital, Perth. The Shire covered an area of , and its seat of government was the town of Mullewa. It amalgamated with the City of Geraldton-Greenough on 1 July 2011 to become part of the City of Greater Geraldton. History The Mullewa Road District was constituted on 11 August 1911, and on 1 July 1961, it became a shire under the ''Local Government Act 1960''. Amalgamation Throughout 2010 and 2011, negotiations were held between the City of Geraldton-Greenough and the Shire of Mullewa as to whether the two entities should merge. Tenindewa, Western Australia
Tenindewa is a small town located between Geraldton and Mullewa, Western Australia, Mullewa along the Geraldton – Mount Magnet Road in the Mid West (Western Australia), Mid West region of Western Australia. At the , the Tenindewa district had a population of 143. The railway from Geraldton and Mullewa was constructed in 1894 and passed through the area. By 1908 a station was opened in the location of the town and had the name 55 mile siding. Tardun, Western Australia
Tardun is a small town in the Mid West region of Western Australia. The townsite is located along the Mullewa to Wongan Hills railway line. The location of the town was decided in 1913 when the route of the railway was being planned. The name of the town was originally Undatarra when it was gazetted in 1913, it was then changed to Tardun in 1925 and lots were surveyed in 1927. Education The Christian Brothers Agricultural School was founded in Tardun in 1928 for child migrants from Britain. It closed in 2009. In testimony before a British parliamentary committee investigating British child migrants sent to Australia in the late 1990s, one boy spoke of the criminal abuse he received from Catholic priests at Tardun. Mullewa is a town in the Mid West region of Western Australia, north of Perth and east-northeast of Geraldton. Mullewa is well known for an abundance of wildflowers in spring and it is one of the few places in Western Australia that the wreath flower grows. The surrounding areas produce wheat and other cereal crops. The town is a receival site for Cooperative Bulk Handling. History European settlers moved to the area in 1869 to take up pastoral leases for farming. In 1894, the government built a narrow gauge railway from Geraldton to Mullewa and the town was gazetted in the same year.
