Shire Of Mirani
The Shire of Mirani was a local government area located in the North Queensland region of Queensland, Australia. The shire, administered from the town of Mirani, covered an area of , and existed as a local government entity from 1916 until 2008, when it amalgamated with the City of Mackay and the Shire of Sarina to form the Mackay Region. The shire was situated in the Pioneer Valley, and atop the Eungella Range, to the west of Mackay. The area's primary industry is sugar production. History Pioneer Division was one of the 74 divisional boards established on 11 November 1879 under the ''Divisional Boards Act 1879'' with a population of 2884 and covered the region surrounding but not including the Borough of Mackay. With the passage of the ''Local Authorities Act 1902'', Pioneer Division became the Shire of Pioneer on 31 March 1903. Eungella Dam
Eungella Dam is an earth and rockfill dam in the locality of Eungella Dam, Mackay Region, Queensland, Australia. It is one of Queensland's freshwater fisheries. Eungella has made a name for producing extra oversized sooty grunter and more recently barramundi. SunWater is undertaking a dam spillway capacity upgrade program to ensure the highest level of safety for the dams is maintained. The spillway will be upgraded in the longer term. History Eungella Dam was constructed in 1969 to meet the requirements of a thermal power station at Collinsville and the town water requirement of Collinsville and Scottsville. Eungella, Queensland
Eungella is a rural town and locality in the Mackay Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Eungella had a population of 194 people. Geography The town of Eungella sits at the top of the escarpment of the Clarke Range at above sea level, falling to an elevation of in Netherdale to the immediate east. The southern branch of Cattle Creek forms on this escarpment and creates the fertile valley to the east, where it becomes a tributary of the Pioneer River in Mirani, which eventually flows into the Coral Sea at Mackay. The escarpment and several other parts of the locality are within the Eungella National Park, which extends into the neighbouring localities of Netherdale and Broken River and beyond.
