The Shire of Greenough was a local government area in the Mid West region of Western Australia, north of the state capital, Perth surrounding the city of Geraldton. The Shire covered an area of , and its seat of government was the outer Geraldton suburb of Utakarra. Historically a rural area, with the growth of Geraldton in recent years as a port and city, the areas of the Shire closest to Geraldton became increasingly urbanised. The council amalgamated with the City of Geraldton in 2007 to form the City of Geraldton-Greenough. On 1 July 2011 it became part of the City of Greater Geraldton. Drummond Cove, Western Australia
Drummond Cove is a coastal town located north of Geraldton, Western Australia in the local government area of the City of Greater Geraldton. The locality was gazetted in 1985. History The area at Drummond Cove was home to Aboriginal people and is part of the Yamatji Country of Western Australia. The bay was initially known as Smugglers Cove due to its use for the illegal export of sandalwood, shipped from there to evade the Government royalty of £1/10/0 per ton. Narngulu is an outer suburb of the Western Australian city of Geraldton, and is for the most part an industrial area. History In the 1890s the town was known as Mullewa Junction as it was where the Cue railway line met the Midland railway line, and the name was gazetted in 1903. By 1905, the town was starting to become confused with Mullewa further east, and the Commissioner of Railways asked for the town to be renamed. The name Crowther, after a local merchant, was objected to by the Postmaster-General's Department, as there was a town named Crowther between Cowra and Young in New South Wales.
