Shiran Wang
Shiran Wang (王詩然; born December 15, 1989, in Nanjing) is a Chinese pianist who has performed internationally. Wang started to play the piano at the age of four and a half, when she was 11 years old she began studying the piano in Beijing, China with Professor Aiping Jin in the Middle School at the Central Conservatory of Music. At the age of fifteen, she was awarded the First Prize at the Fourth International Prokofiev Piano Competition in Ukraine, winner of the Seventh Arthur Rubinstein Youth Pianist competition in Poland in 2007 and the Fourth Rachmaninoff International Piano Competition held in Moscow in 2008. She has studied with professor Dang Thai Son as well as at the International Piano Academy Lake Como with professors Dmitri Bashkirov, Fou Ts'ong and William Grant Naboré. Jiangsu, Nanjing
Jiangsu (; ; pinyin: Jiāngsū, alternatively romanized as Kiangsu or Chiangsu) is an eastern coastal province of the People's Republic of China. Maxim Dmitriyevich Shostakovich (russian: Макси́м Дми́триевич Шостако́вич; born 10 May 1938 in Leningrad) is a Soviet, Russian and American conductor and pianist. He is the second child of the composer Dmitri Shostakovich and Nina Varzar. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1978). Since 1975, he has conducted and popularised many of his father's lesser-known works. He was educated at the Moscow and Leningrad Conservatories where he studied with Igor Markevitch and Otto-Werner Muellerbefore becoming principal conductor of the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra. During his tenure as principal conductor, he conducted the premiere of his father's Fifteenth Symphony on 8 January 1972. On 12 April 1981, he defected to West Germany, and then later settled in the United States. The piano is a stringed keyboard instrument in which the strings are struck by wooden hammers that are coated with a softer material (modern hammers are covered with dense wool felt; some early pianos used leather). China Record Corporation (CRC; ) is the Chinese government's oldest and largest record company. CRC's catalog of traditional Chinese ethnic, classical and folk music features over 60,000 releases spanning over 1,000 years of Chinese musical history, and includes the Peking operas and a large collection of children's tunes and pop music.
