George Shenton (footballer)
George "Shino" Shenton (15 June 1899 – 10 February 1978) was an English Association football, footballer who played at Defender (association football), right-back for Port Vale F.C., Port Vale from 1927 to 1936. Featuring in 196 league and cup games, he helped the "Valiants" to win the Football League Third Division North, Third Division North title in 1929–30. Career Shenton played for Naybro Stone, Downing's Tileries and Blythe Bridge, before joining Port Vale F.C., Port Vale as an amateur in June 1927. He signed professional forms with the "Valiants" in August that year, and made his debut on 10 November in a 3–1 defeat to Grimsby Town F.C., Grimsby Town at Blundell Park. He played a total of ten Football League Second Division, Second Division games in the 1928–29 Port Vale F.C. season, 1928–29 season, as Vale suffered relegation. Oshnavieh ( fa, اشنويه, Oshnavīyeh; ku, شنۆ, translit=Şino) is the capital city of Oshnavieh County, West Azerbaijan Province in Iran. At the 2016 census, its population was 40,000 in 2,000 families. The city is populated by Kurds who speak Sorani. History Oshnaviyeh lies on the historic route from Urmia basin to Rawandiz over the Kalashin Pass. An Urartian stele from about 800 BCE exist near the city. After the Mongol invasion, the city became the seat of the Nestorian Church for a brief moment. Medieval geographers from the 10th century wrote that the city was fair-sized, attached to Urmia, fertile and having good pasture. Kurds from the Hadhabani tribe would settle in the area during the summer, pasture their livestock and sell their products for manufactures and textiles from the city.
